  • Awesome, I am a 43 year old man, with 33 years experience as a Church organist innthe anglican church, and I got to say this is TRUE WORSHIP TO OUR GOD, A BRILLIANT BALANCE OF WORSHIPPING GOD THROUGH THE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS, GIVING PROMINENCE TO EXALTING GOD & WORSHIPPING GOD , AS OPPOSED TO OVER EMPHASIZING ON DESCANTS AND GIVING MORE PROMINENCE TO THAT, BUT THIS CHOIR IS WORSHIPPING GOD IN TNE BEAUTY OF HOLINESS, TO SHINE FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, I PERSONALLY LOVE DESCANTS ONLY FOR CHRISTMAS CAROLS & EASTER DAY SERVICES, 😅THANK YOU, MAY GOD ALMIGHTY BLESS YOU ALL

How soothing and peaceful to hear this lovely song offering to the Lord almighty God, which we should be thankful.
  • This song was sung during service when my father was a minister with the Evangelical Lutheran church.
  • So beautiful..! I remember this sweet song..! I sang this song as a young teenager in the 1950s...! He has been so Faithful..all these years..!! This sounds so much like the Choir I sang in..!!

1 Glorious things of thee are spoken, Zion, city of our God; He whose word cannot be broken Formed thee for his own abode; On the Rock of Ages founded, What can shake thy sure repose? With salvation's walls surrounded, Thou may'st smile at all thy foes. 2. See the streams of living waters, Springing from eternal love, Well supply thy sons and daughters, And all fear of want remove; Who can faint while such a river Ever flows their thirst t'assuage? Grace, which like the Lord, the giver, Never fails from age to age. 3 Round each habitation hov'ring, See the cloud and fire appear For a glory and a cov'ring, Showing that the Lord is near; Thus deriving from their banner Light by night and shade by day, Safe they feed upon the manna Which he gives them when they pray. 4. Savior, if of Zion's city I, thro' grace, a member am, Let the world deride or pity, I will glory in thy name; Fading is the worldling's pleasure, All his boasted pomp and show; Solid joys and lasting treasure None but Zion's children know.

My mother was born in Austria Hungary which in my opinion was there peak of European civilization when we had honorable kings who were descendants of. Rex Deus
  • The descant adds even more beauty to this beautiful hymn. Praise God in the highest.

This recording is insanely beautiful. I swear I can hear my grandparents singing in here, brings me back to being a really young kid bored in church.
  • @geraldarcuri9307
One of the most stunning, beautiful descants I've ever heard! Hallelujah!!!!!!!!!
  • Sang this hymn with this tune at school in England in the1950s. A staple of the Anglican church. Must have surprised wartime German POWs working on farms who could attend the village church on Sundays
  • When it is sung to the tune of Austria it is a great hymn.Amazingly good choir and a very good organist
  • @FRANKTHRING1
Glorious tune....no wonder Hapsburg Austria used it as their "Kaiser Hymn"
  • @mrspencer9999
1:1 the same melody is used in our German national anthem 😃

I well remember "Glorious Things" as a processional hymn in the home church of my youth. Beautiful words and music, completely appropriate for Divine Worship. Infinitely preferable to the "music" that's sung by the many rockin' praise groups in numerous churches today.
