Today, we're diving into a topic that's near and dear to my heart: live performances. As a musician, there's something truly magical about connecting with an audience in real-time, feeding off their energy, and creating unforgettable moments. But what truly enhances these experiences? The tools we use to bring our music to life on stage can make the difference.
In this video, I'll be sharing my thoughts on live performances and the tools that revolutionized the way I approach live performances: the ‪@Ableton‬ Push 3, paired with ‪@playdifferently9439‬ Model1 and ‪@datanoise‬ Octawave. Join me as I explore its impact, its advantages, and how it has transformed my live sets.

Another good tip that performance tutors gave to me was that if you have a big concert or recital coming up. Then prepare for it by doing many small, less pressured recitals in the lead up. Even if it's to very small groups of friends, or smaller audiences or less critical environments like cafes, bars. All the better if these friends are true friends but also artists and can give gentle constructive feedback. Recording these concerts and listening back helps too. Just so that you become more of a machine, that when performance time comes, you spring into action, and just do the thing that moment, without thinking. It helps iron out some kinks and highlight areas that need to be worked on, practiced or simiplified.

Big thanx Federico for sharing your workflow and to have a deep view into your creations. I absolutely agree that you do it simply for your live performances. I play over 20 years live with ableton and since the first push came out, it was a super option to present the music live to the audience on a easy way with a small set up. I love your music very much, it’s absolutely my taste;-) Hope to see you at the Superbooth this year. Best greetings from the other side of the world🖖☺️

  • hey, I just wanted to say thank you. I'm having my first live performance soon. and I must admit that I am extremely nervous. You touched on all the issues that were stressing me out and your simple advice at the end was truly priceless. Thanks, I gained some self-confidence!

man, even for a guy with a total different setup (looper Roland rc-505mkii, simple circuit tracks and hopefully soon an astrolab) your advice and considerations concerning live performing electronic music are gold. Very much appreciated, much respect!

Bel setup e bel concetto di live performance. La giusta miscela tra pronto ed improvvisazione

so interesting.............BTW - in my 'live, ambient, improv' videos, I'm generally playing everything live, everything is a risk, but that's the beauty of improv...........................love all your videos............masterfully presented
  • Ableton variations ah? Finally someone is using that new performance pack. I feel it has potential but didn't figure out how to use it yet. Looking forward for that video about that. As always great content!
