I love Push 3 and I also want to throw it at the wall. It's almost like we are in a band together.

dawless is for people that on the moment they work in a daw, they end up watching youtube for the next 3 hours
  • @MyReasonToPlay
Fun fact: DAW was originally the name for hardware workstations similar to a groovebox. Not software.

Great vid! My primary work is on post production for film and TV so hardcore DAW use from beginning to end is the norm. For me Dawless is no mouse on a screen, letting my big screens go into screensaver mode while I create sequences on an SP404 and Circuit Rhythm and improvise with a guitar and bass. Recording back to the SP or using the MPC as a tape machine is absolute bliss and incredibly inspiring. Hands on pads, synth encoders and pedals is mainly how I create my music for the last couple of years and whatever the label I love it. Saludos de Colombia 🇨🇴!

Really great video buddy and love your thoughts on this. I can 100% feel the paradigm shift in my own workflow with Push 3 too. Looking forward to your review!

I am of the opinion that if a piece of equipment gives you the same workflow and requires the same conditions (connected to a desk or even to an external audio interface) as a DAW software on a computer then it is a DAW. What this push and the new mpc does wonderfully. Great content!

Yo bro, let me get you some Midi socks.. I seen that big toe popping out 🤣 But in all seriousness, I loved this video. -- The destination is the same and some people prefer walking over driving.
  • I've got a Roland W30 originally released in 1989, it has 'WORKSTATION' emblazoned on the front, has a built-in sequencer and sampler which processes 'DIGITAL AUDIO'.

Great video! It is fascinating to see the evolution from analog to digital and now a trend of mobile hardware/software hybrid machines. I think we tend to forget how powerful and endless our possibilities have become. I have used all kinds of hardware and software.Personally I love the the IPad with a lot of truly innovative touch based musical Instruments that are inviting to create music with. I love the direct interaction and results. And for sure, just have fun, experiment, play and be thankful! Keep up the great work!

DAWless means DULLless 😊 if you can enter notes not by a mouse while able to get around just like with a mouse it’s inspiring setup! Push3 is perfect for that. Not necessarily standalone. Push3 + Mac - Monitor = makes it most artisan and powerful DAWless setup. Not only Mac Studio Ultra is your “upgrade kit” but all your analog synths are connected to Push DAWless core with USB and proper wires to audio interface. Just turn your screen off, dim the lights => DAWless ❤ your glowing silky Push3 pads is a portal to your music.

Love the ”Synths in the City” vibe in this video.

One point of DAWless you are not mentioning is the direct and quick creation process. Push 3, it is a great device I own and I know my way around. And since it is coming from the Ableton DAW the degree of editing is skyrocketing. Stil, I never understood the pressure you have to apply to force the buttons down... Working with Push unfortunatly is much slower in comparison to say the Syntakt/Digitakt. The succes of modern DAWless devices is character, swiftness and creation process. I do love MPE Pads on Push 3, but do they support my music making? I realised you wrote "That has SOUL" as showing the MPE pads. Well yes, and thanks for telling, but than, it is just one kind of soul. I always feel a little detached when using the Push 3 SA.

Great vid! Always been somewhere in the middle - but honestly recently sold all my groove boxes, drum machines (after I sampled them) and gone mostly back "ITB" kept my piano for spur of the moment kind of stuff and a nice big synth. The push 2 helped a lot with that, I recently sold that too to get a 3 shortly - as it means I can sell my linnstrument toboot. Think I just wanted some quick access to noodling melodies and inputting drums and went too far into groovebox land trying to attain that.
  • DAWless is a quest some people take to find the right combination of tools that best facilitate the magic they want to create. I have had a few iterations of all hardware, hardware with computer DAW (Ableton) and now all software (still Ableton). The Push 3, for me, is an amazing instrument. And the fact that I consider it an instrument first, before DAW, is because it reminds me of the freedom I felt when I bought my first synth workstation the Ensoniq SQ1. I can make music anywhere around my house or at a friend’s house and utilize all of the custom synth and FX presets I have created with Ableton. I love the Push 3 exactly why you stated, it’s a new paradigm that blurs the line between hardware and software.

I think the main thing for DAWless is to unplug and get away from screens, so I think the Push 3 Standalone fits the bill

Great video as always! For what it’s worth, I’ve been using Push 2 very much like this for years. I don’t really have a desire to leave my computer behind, but I’ve been very inspired by the workflows of the “DAWless” communities. I produce and jam almost exclusively with Push 2 as the “brain” and rarely need to touch my mouse or look at the screen. I sequence external gear, use hardware effects as sends, and even grab a long USB cable and work on my couch. The Push 3 looks terrific. I’d love to have the enhanced MPE (though Push 2 gets you pretty far with polyphonic aftertouch), and standalone mode would be nice on the rare occasion I leave my house. But, really: you can work in a very “DAWless way” with Push 2, as well, and I haven’t been compelled to upgrade because I sort of feel like MPE is the only thing that I’d really be gaining for my personal use cases. You can totally dive into this “paradigm shift” with a Push 2 as well, I’d say.
  • Just in case you’re new to this space: DAW= Digital Audio Workstation (software such as Ableton, Cubase, Logic etc). Thanks for stopping by!
