Love me some Ramsey Lewis, so much history in his interviews.
  • My idol, Ramsey Lewis, just completed my yearning for the meaning of life. Dear Ramsey, I would like to add another definition to your great words of wisdom. “ Art is human emotion through a technique “- from my music teacher. My mother brought an album home of a piano player who was named after an Egyptian Pharaoh. It was 1966, I never heard the piano say words- pianos have half steps only, how in Gods name could a pianist do this? A country piano player, in his own way, Floyd Cramer, played with a similar technique, and wrote some cute tunes. Anyway Ramsey, I copied both your styles. You, however, motivated me to become a public school music teacher, and moonlight playing piano in restaurants and nightclubs for the next fifty years. Thanks for making your piano talk to me. ❤
  • Ramsey Lewis is awesome. He has more funk in his left hand than some people have in their whole body. I wish he would do a retro album of funky tunes on a real electric piano
