This video is an introduction to ionic bonding, which is one type of chemical bonding. Ionic bonds hold together metal and nonmetal atoms. In ionic bonding, electrons are transferred from a metal atom to a nonmetal atom, creating ions. These ions have opposite charge, so they stick together.

This man just informed me more in 7 minutes than 3 weeks of the same principal being taught by my chemistry teacher.
  • I love how you assume we don’t know it and go to the basics I wish all chemistry teachers did that they think we understand all the terminology they’re using and know we can’t ask them in class as we’ll feel stupid

I wish I had a teacher like you when I was in school. Now I watch your videos so that I can teach Chemistry to my kids :-) You are simply awesome the way you explain. You do a great service to the community.

The best teachers are the one's that can simplify complex ideas to students. Like this dude

If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't stand a chance in chemistry. You will probably never see this, but I do want to say thank you for all that you do. You really want to help students, and I am very grateful.

Hydrogen is an exception: although it is on the left side of the periodic table, it is a nonmetal.
  • It's been 8 years since this video was been uploaded, sooner or later through his videos Tyler is going to teach entire generations of young students who couldn't understand these subjects because of their tedious school systems and teachers.

You are a great teacher, I spent 3 hrs in class but did not understand anything but now I am clear about this.
  • @eunoia1395
You teach this better than my teacher, bless you

Over 7 years later, these videos are the only reason I've maintained good grades in Chemistry. Currently studying for finals, which is really stressful with the terrible "textbook" we have for online learning. Your method of teaching really helps me absorb far more information in a short video than reading over some text and a few diagrams over an over.

Who else is here because of online learning failing at teaching us?
  • @katieschwann956
I've been watching your videos since 2018 and I swear you're one of the big reasons why I passed all my chemistry class lol. Now, I'm a college student and I'm still here. Your videos are so helpful and informative.
  • High school special educator here, who's also responsible for teaching the general curriculum to learners with some delays and challenges. I am clearly no expert, but you give me so much hope that I can modify chemistry for these babies to make it tangible, I appreciate your explanations! You're a teacher's teacher!
  • @umairiqbal5172
you should get the Nobel prize for teaching ! extremely helpful and its actually understood.why isn't there any of the other bonds such as covalent bond ?😓
  • @andrewking9882
Wow, this guy is good. I'm so glad I live in the internet age.
  • 10/10 amazing introduction beautiful presentation very informative very eye catching and nice colors and edited at the perfect degree. well done mate. There is no crazy green screen this is truly a pure talent!
  • I down loaded 85 chemistry apps, you were the only one I fully understand this concept, thank you 😊
