A visit to the Launceston Steam Railway on 15 July of 2016.
The locomotive in steam that day was Hunslet (678 of 1898) 0-4-0ST 'Covercoat'. The railway operates over a gauge of 1foot 11 1/2 inches (957mm) but has been built over the former standard gauge track bed of the North Cornwall Railway (opened in 1865 from Launceston to Plymouth and closed in 1962).
Ted Baker and I travelled up and down the line several times that day on the footplate from which many of these scenes were taken.
The railway departs Launceston, running up gradient to the terminus at Newmills, a distance of 2 1/2 miles.
