These 6 nutrients deficiencies can cause hypothyroidism and low thyroid function if present. The good thing about these nutrients is that they can be targeted and replaced which means that you may be able to reverse your thyroid condition (assuming it was caused by a nutrient deficiency!).

Not all cases of hypothyroidism are caused by nutrient deficiencies but taking these supplements can still help improve thyroid function in various ways.

It's well known that certain vitamins and minerals are required for your thyroid to work correctly. So it makes sense that if you don't have enough of these nutrients that your thyroid won't work properly.

If you replace them then you may be able to naturally increase how well your thyroid is working so that you can start feeling better.

Some of these deficiencies can be subtle and may sneak up on you over time. Over time you may start to feel hypothyroid symptoms including weight gain, hair loss, dry skin, constipation, poor digestion, low body temperature, and other hormone problems.

The nutrient deficiencies outlined in this video include:

#1. Zinc
#2. Iron
#3. Iodine
#4. Selenium
#5. Tyrosine
#6. Vitamin A

Find out how to know if you are deficient in these vitamins, how to replace them using food or supplements, and much more in this video.

  • I was misdiagnosed with mental disorder over 20yrs ago. I had a flu and Pneumonia vaccine the years before. I had already went thru early menopause 15 yrs before. I ended up never being diagnosed with a low thyroid.i ended with fibromyalgia with the vaccine. Over the years I took my own health in hand . I found the supplements for Thyroid have helped tremendously. Thank you for continuing to open our eyes to the truth. Chemicals are not the answer.

OMGOSH you are awesome! Thank you for specializing in thyroid issues. I’ve been looking for help for 27 years. I’ve learned so much and just found a physician that specializes in thyroid issues and actually listened to me and added T3 to my regime.
  • Great vid! Some of the best advice on YT imo. I would have covered copper though since it's required for iron. And too much zinc can crash copper then impact iron. So too much zinc theoretically could cause hypothyroidism. You definitely want a balance between zinc/copper. Then get the iron, iodine, selenium levels locked in.

  • Thank you for another great video Dr Childs. I’m currently reading The China Study by T. Colin Campbell, PhD and am wondering if you can do a video with your professional opinion of what the effects of a whole foods, plant based diet would be on Hashimoto’s / Hypothyroidism.

Absorbing nutrients is most likely a huge problem for me, I do not have a colon, but a "Parke's pouch" in it's place. I also take thyroid meds so I love your information, you are a STAR.
