Amazing review. NF3 told us "Drive a Diablo and Expect to be the center of attention wherever you go". This design is still uncontested till this day. The shape, the hips, the roof scoopes, its just a timeless masterpiece. I'd still take this over the new recycled Lambo designs.

The main menu intro from NFS3 was legendary. The whole game is a gem.

Those NFS bits in the intro were just epic! As someone who grew up obsessively playing those early 90s NFS games, I can't tell you how good it feels to see one of them getting a mention in any car review (especially as everyone keeps banging on about the later Blackbox games), and needless to say, the Diablo SV is one of my all-time favourite cars thanks to those games. This was a great video to watch!

Love the call back to NFSIII, was and still is my dream car (one day!) Brilliant video, your enthusiasm for the machine really shows. Cheers!

James continues to improve as a presenter, he will be the new Tiff, mark my words….
  • This car was the most OP in NFS Hot Pursuit in the Exotic series. You can play it as well, since the Diablo in Hot Pursuit is too broken for Most Wanted modes.

Still remember Colin Goodwin's test drive from July '96 issue! And thanks for original Hot Pursuit reference! Greets from long-time reader from Russia!
  • My perfect 2 car garage: An F40 (best of the 80s) and a Diablo (best of the 90s IMO) :) Thanks for the great video. Keep up the amazing content. Fantastic video editing by the way!

I sat in the first Diablo to be imported into Australia. Due to a missing document from Italy , the Hornsby branch of the MTA wouldn't issue a rego certificate which meant the new owner couldn't collect his car that afternoon afternoon

I love that car and, as well, it was my favorite one in NFSIII. Amazing video!

Thanks for a great vid, the personal reflections are great. I had a similar experience after playing the original Need for Speed and buying my own... RX-7 ;-) Just a note, variable valve timing doesn't change the cam *profiles*, it's the same camshaft shape but it just moves the valve opening point earlier and later depending on the revs. The benefit is this lets you have higher inlet/exhaust overlap at high revs for breathing and thus power, while having no overlap at low revs for driveability and emissions. The timing changes, not the shape of the cam. This is distinct from variable valve lift such as VTEC and Toyota's VVTL, which actually does use multiple cam profiles to achieve higher lift (wider open valves) at high revs, on top of the timing shift.

Ferrari F50 is the true Need for Speed Legend. That was the car that made NFS famous, it was even on the NFS II cover art.

Awesome video! I also fell in love with this car from NFS3. Still have a copy of the game that I play from time to time!

Back when Lambo's were actually Lambo's.. 😉 Total nightmare to maintain nowadays. Gotta have deep pockets. But hey, if you're looking at one, you've got the cash to keep it going. 🙂 Good day with the Lambo!
  • @mtlsi
Thank you for this video and I am so glad you had the oportunity to drive it.
