The biggest misconception people have about freediving is that it is about your ability to hold your breath for long periods, but its so much more than that. The further you get the more it becomes a meditative-psychology teaching you to relax every muscle in your body. Only then can you reach the depths you want. Have fun!

i love your humble but enthusiastic attitude towards things. i hope this channel blows up because I enjoy your content and I think a lot of other people would too

Wow, I'm just three days into practicing in the pool, and I'm really thankful I discovered this video. It's incredibly motivating and exactly what I needed to keep pushing forward!

so cool to see an Australian youtuber in my area try freediving. I used free dive a lot at shelly beach but just never had anyone to go with so id end up just doing it by myself (which is no good). I think by myself I got to around 12-13 meters deep (around the depth of the underwater motorcycle at shelly beach). I wish you luck on freediving and you definitely inspired me to try it again

I have a feeling this video is going to go viral soon

Hi Laurie, I really enjoy your videos and I hope whatever the YouTube algorithm is doing with your views that it will change soon again! Your content is awesome and would deserve way more subscribers.

That's a great start, Laurie! I love swimming and diving, but I am super bad at breathing.. 1 minute max and I hyperventilate lol. The last shots are beautiful, swimming with seals must be amazing. Can't wait for your next challenge /video! Take care

Your teacher failing to instruct you to perform the Valsalva maneuver in order to equalize your ears was irresponsible. That's how you cause barotrauma to your ears.

Nice! Once you’re past the initial thresholds there is no looking back! Been freediving my entire life (almost) and to me it’s second nature to be in and under the water holding my breath. Looking forward to seeing more! And really good advice at the end. Stay safe! 👍🏽😀

I'm doing a class in Hawaii next month so this helps me know what to expect. Though I am a practiced swimmer so I know you can hold your breath on average for a minute on land so that doubles in the water typically, but static holds is always the worst.

Swimming with the seals; awesome! I didn't realize the head-down equalizing can be an issue. I've gone down maybe 6-10m while snorkeling and really looking forward to doing a proper Freediving course with an instructor, hopefully this year, to learn to go deeper and stay longer for those fun dives. Stay safe and have fun!

Your challenge videos re-excite me to get out there and try everything possible. Great stuff.

I’m feeling anxiety about drowning just watching this video. God bless those who want to learn to free dive.

Happy For You! You will love this sport for life. The Ocean is so fast and peaceful. I learned Freediving from the Badjaos in the Philippines in 1980. I used a different technic of breathing. I usually dive alone but please never dive alone if you're not confident with yourself. Positivity is a must in Freediving. Take Care Bro!

Hello , all the things u went through happened to me in my freediving course everything u did was the same for me from holding ur breath for 1 min and 58 sec to free immersion 8 meters to equalization problems but thankfully i improved after some practice i fixed my equalization issues i was using valsalva now im using frenzel and from 1 min 58sec to 4 min 45 sec and to depth of 35 meters and now im a certified freediver from CMAS
