Alex couldn't get out of her contract for Family Guy actually, definitely worked out for both of the ladies in the end. And a big change was that they originally intended for the diner owner to be a woman named Daisy I believe but it was too many ladies and it felt unbalanced, so they changed the character. The relationship between Luke and Lorelai was entirely unintentional and came as a result of Lauren and Scott's on screen chemistry, however they were not the bestest of friends at the start off screen. I have nothing else to do with these useless facts, I must squeeze them in wherever I can justify.
