Dan Saxon Palmer of Palmer & Krisel, architects of Paradise Palms is my dad. I was born in 1961, and sales at Paradise Palms began in 1962. So, this was what he was working on when I was born. He passed in 2006. With Father's Day coming up this Sunday, it is really fun to have stumbled onto this, and get a glimpse into my father's life and times. Thank you!

My wife and I drive through the older sections a lot. Great to see the architecture and history. You can turn on your radio in the car for a little background music. Thanks for taking time to share these fabulous older houses. Be safe and thanks again

Nice footage of the road, good to see a few houses, thanks.
  • I've never really been interested in Las Vegas until a couple of years ago......I find the history fascinating and the people who worked so hard to make it into the showplace that it is now (although I think I would have liked to have been there in the 50s through the 70s). Without all of the colorful characters that have left their mark upon the desert, there wouldn't have been a Vegas - and I hope they find a way to keep the past alive while heading into the future. Thank you for the tour, and I look forward to seeing wherever you decide to go and explore.

To think when those homes were built, the average price was 20k and 40k for a super luxury home on the golf course. The new home I purchased, 20 years later in 1982, was 51k (not in this area).
  • Thank you for the video . I grew up on Cochise and Tioga. Weird seeing my old house and the neighborhood. The golf course used to be called Sahara golf course. A lot of interesting people lived their in the 60s 79s and 80s.

  • Is this a rough area ? I cane to vegas twice for holiday and boy oh boy when I ventured out i saw some reall rough parts , very soulless and scary ! Summerlin was great however ,

I can’t imagine the historic district status did much if anything at all because the cast majority (if not all) of these houses have been horribly “re-muddled”. A very few possessed what appeared to be the original overall design.

It looks to me like you could be driving through any Sydney suburb or any Australian town we are so similar in that respect…spooky: Sydney Australia:
  • Drive thru what’s left of Black Mtn. CC, same architects for the most part.

The next time you do a driving tour, please slow down.
  • I love the mid-century style homes in Paradise Palms. Are most the houses priced in the upper 800k-One Million price range? I've seen some on real estate websites remolded and they look great!
