  • You have no idea how much I wish James Garfield's favourite food was Lasagna
  • @SBox180
7:02-7:05 “Hayes loved to eat, more than anything, his wife Lucy” I paused there before he said “pancakes” and died laughing.
  • @Jaricko
My mind went straight into the gutter at one point. "Rutherford Hayes.. Speaking of special recipes, Hayes loved to eat, more than anything his wife lucy-" I was like " WHOA!! "
  • @MinisDunyasi5
Fun Fact: Thomas Jefferson’s favorite dessert was ice cream. Specifically vanilla ice cream, that he wrote the recipe for himself.

“If I had a nickel for every president whose favourite food was squirrel soup, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?”
  • Honestly it really just shows you how American cuisine has changed over time. All the latest presidents love their burgers, lots of the middle presidents loved steak, most of the early presidents liked puddings. It is probably just whatever is popular at the time since that's what a president is ultimately a reflection of

You forgot to mention that Millard Fillmore died while eating a bowl of soup after calling it mid. His reported last words were “the soup is palatable.”
  • @busterb2958
Honestly it’s pretty humanizing to find out the presidents’ favorite foods, it reminds you that even the most powerful people in the world who have had to deal with so many national and international problems all the time still have little joys they get out of life
  • @Nemy10X
It's so bizarre to me that Coolidge's favorite food was Chinese food. Given that the next President after him, Herbert Hoover lived in China for a time, you'd think it would have been him instead.
  • I don't know if this has been commented yet, but fun fact: The sole reason for the late President Reagan's love for jellybeans was the fact that he used to be a smoker. So everytime he thought about smoking a cigarette, he'd pop some jellybeans.
  • Vinegar pie is actually quite good. I live in Tennessee where it’s still made in certain places. It was a poor man’s substitute for lemon pie as the vinegar was mixed with sugar and other flavorings. It’s actually really close to lemon pie.
  • @InvestmentJoy
✅ apple pan dowdy ✅ bread pudding ✅ squirrel stew ✅ sugar pie I could be a 19th century president
  • @TheBigRedskull
Hoping for “Every President’s Prior Job/Public Office” next!
  • @Blue-rl5dp
Bread pudding is slightly dried bread cubes mixed into and baked in vanilla egg custard pudding. So the bread soaks up the pudding before it sets up firm. Some people like it with maple syrup and it tastes just like French toast! I like it with cinnamon. The customary topping is lemon curd, much like the lemon stuff inside a lemon pie. Personally, I think it's fantastic.

A year ago, before this video was uploaded, my family and I embarked on a challenge to eat every single one of the food items on this list - all consecutively. I'm currently working on a book all about it.
  • Thomas Jefferson going to Europe and realizing macaroni was a masterpiece that everyone had to try it back home is why I'm glad we live in this timeline. That alone was a hero move. But I feel for Buchanan. He kept ordering cabbage from the cabbage merchant and Team Avatar keeps ruining his orders with their shenanigans.
  • LBJ’s love of Mexican food reminded me of how before he became president, he taught at a segregated Mexican-American School, which eventually caused him to support the Civil Rights Movement, at least far back as 1957.
  • @sloebig
“Hayes loved to eat, more than anything, his wife Lucy” Didn’t know Hayes was such a hound dog
