Cop Tries to State Ref Brand New G87 M2!

"He was pretty cool". This officer went out of his way to try and find modifications, (extra things to charge you with) with no probable cause or reasonable suspicion. Don't mistake scripted banter as friendly. Be respectful, but don't be fooled!

Bothers me that my tax dollars are going to pay cops to harass people over car exhaust rather than taking on drug dealers, thieves/shoplifters, ect.

Coming from a city where even the cops drive deleted diesel pickups, it's wild to see them just immediately check the engine for any mods. How ridiculously stupid.

1.) What authority does HP have to check the car 2.) How would an LEO know wtf is illegally modified by looking at it.

Same thing happened to me way back in 2006. I had just purchased a brand new subaru sti and on the way home from the dealership I was pulled over for illegal exhaust and equipment. I had under 20 miles on the car. I was ticketed even though I tried to tell them it was new car un modified... I followed the officer back to the station and walked in and explained the circumstances to the police chief and all ticket were thrown out then I filled formal complaint on the officer for harrassment and sued him for unlawfully detaining me.

California worried more over car parts rather than homelessness, drug epidemic, rampid crime and cost of living. We need to vote these politicians out , vote for how we want OUR highway patrol to operate, vote for how we want our state instead of handing it over. And quit falling for the democrats games and lies like "racism" "global warming" "more than 2 genders" ect.

He literally only checked for a catless down pipe. Front license plate was purely an excuse to pull him over since he had no other probable cause. If that license plate was on that bumper this would have 100% been an illegal stop just to check for modifications. These money grabs are getting out of hand, CA is running out of excuses to bother enthusiasts. That’s why they always sound so fucking giddy giddy n happy just to “check under your hood for a few seconds”. Always trying to play the nice guy, fuck off CHP. I used to be “all for backing the blue” instead of them serving and protecting its more like serving the fucking book of law. Completely asinine. I’m Glad you had a good experience with them at least.

As a BMW sales rep, we don’t drill into your bumper since we don’t want to damage the look we will put your paper plate in your windshield. You’ll have to order plate brackets yourself. At least at my dealership you do. Some models come with them though.

I left California and moved to Michigan in the mid 1990's. Since being here I have never been pulled over for any modifications on my cars or motorcycle.
