Cars & Bids is like the buy here, pay here version of Bring A Trailer. But it's not just the Carfax history. It's everything. The sellers act like shady used car salesmen. Sometimes they get caught, sometimes they get away with it.

One red flag when buying is when the seller doesn't mention anything wrong with it. When I bought my Abarth I knew everything wrong with. Owner pointed out paint chips, plastic fade , seat wear, and everything that needed to be changed which was mirror cover from rock chip. So It was chill Coming out with car.

Anyone who leaves a EU plate under a US plate is automatically in the pretentious douchebag zone for me.
  • “I wanna be different” and “rpf1s” can’t go in the same sentence

I recently sold a rotted out Outback on Facebook marketplace that was very clearly sold as a parts car. Ad had everything listed that was wrong with it, I checked off "for parts" on the title and registration, everything. Scumbag bought it for $700 (cool, more than any scrapyard would give for it) said he was going to pull the engine. Then he blocked me on facebook and relisted it within 24 hours for $3400. The thing was a rotted out deathtrap that would take weeks of work sourcing parts, welding, etc. I found out because he didn't block my wife. Tried warning the town and local area through community pages about what happened and detailed everything wrong with it, I was insulted, brigaded, harassed, you name it saying I was the bad guy, I was just jealous he was flipping it, "just let him make his quick buck". That car can and will strand someone somewhere at best, kill them at worst, and I saw the real face of my community through those facebook posts. Deleted my facebook and I fking hate buying and selling used cars through auction sites, marketplace, and craigslist now. SO many subhuman trash a-holes that have killed my faith in humanity.

    1 quart every 150 miles ! I didnt know they made a 2 stroke mr2 that sounds awesome 😂
  • I imagine auction sites are full of people who are trying to ride the 'Rona price wave and got way over-leveraged in their "investments". Got caught up in the price surge and thought they were only gonna go up because they had to work their ass off to get the car (due to shortages etc). Now that prices and demand have stabilized a bit, they're left with a 50k car on their 60k salary and they can't financially afford a 10k loss in value. They're going to be scumbags when they can't get the price they want because they literally cannot afford the loss. Specifically thinking of that Supra, but it could apply to most of these. Don't invest in cars, ever.

I bought my LX on cars and bids. The seller removed the thermostat to hide a bad radiator. 2 cat converters, and alternator, and multiple sensors later, I’m in an 8K car for 14K 😂

Yo I was the one who wined and dined Netgear!! It was a fun night and I hope you come back to Phoenix soon!

got so lucky buying my s2000 from bring a trailer. Owner was straight forward with it and car has been flawless with me since purchase. Hoping my next purchase on these sites go equally smooth, but seeing people get scammed on these sites just sucks.

I never got the appeal of Doug. Looks like he created the fancy Facebook marketplace for cars. Just another example of why you can't trust anything a YouTuber pushes on their channel. .

Never buy a car without seeing it in person and driving it. You’ll thank me later, auctions are lame
