In Bangladesh a Supreme Court ruling has significantly reduced quotas for government jobs.
The controversial policy - scrapped by Sheikh Hasina's government in 2018 - was reintroduced in June, prompting widespread demonstrations.
A crackdown by security forces has killed more than 140 people and injured thousands.
A nationwide curfew and internet blackout remain in force – and protesters say their fight isn't over.

Al Jazeera’s Michael Appel reports.

I am a Bangladeshi. Currently I am living abroad. There is no mobile network, internet connection, and Wi-Wi-Fi in our country. Since last three days I have no contact with my family in back home. The govt is killing the innocent students and the ordinary people who are helping students. Almost 300+ students were killed by Bangladesh government. Many students are Under 18. They are school children. The government is doing genocide now. We want the resignation of current prime minister Shekh Hasina. She is the most wanted criminal. I urge the United Nations and Human right organizations to help our students and save their lives and ensure the human rights in Bangladesh.

No more negotiation with the government. Stepping down of the government is the only solution now.
