"I never grew up with Jay Jay the Jetplane" GOOD

My mom used to call "Sid The Science Kid." "Sid The Stupid Kid." Because of one episode he asked what "Using your noggin." Meant.

When Caillou says "I'm just a kid who's 4" he's not referring to his age, he's referring to the amount of weeks he has left to live.
  • My favorite PBS Kids shows were -Cyberchase (one of the more superior PBS Kids shows in existence) -The Electric Company -Fetch -Arthur I also remember being absolutely OBSESSED with all of the flash games they had on their website, like Cyber Quest. I even went back to check and replay a bunch of them for some good nostalgia, when I found out alot of them were GONE. So I acted accordingly and used the Wayback Machine, even though games like The Wordsuckerupernator were gone to time... Also does anyone remember a show that was called something like "Chuck Vander Chuck" because I can barely find anything on it.
  • I remember when PBS Kids would thank the viewers at the end of their “This show is funded in part by….” Segments at the beginning and ending of their shows. “And by Contributions to your PBS Station by Viewers Like You. Thank You!” That brings me back and me internally saying back “You’re Welcome!”
  • Caillou means “pebble” in French, but it can also be roughly translated as “bald head.”

I loved JayJay the Jetplane so much as a kid, my mom used to tell me different characters were flying above me when I was in the bath so I would look up to try to see them and not get shampoo in my eyes
  • The whole Caillou cancer thing was an urban legend at my elementary school back in the day LMAO

Fun Fact: The Bert photo originates from a satire website called "Bert is Evil" created by Dino Ignacio on March 30, 1997. It featured Bert photoshopped in a bunch of historical moments such as him next to Hitler or placed at the site of the JFK shooting.

Personally I’d like to give PBS credit for making possibly the most horrifying characters I have ever seen.

Won't You Be My Neighbor was an amazing documentary. It had me on a emotional roller coaster all the way until the end. RIP Fred Rogers one of the greatest and most genuine men to exist in my lifetime.
  • "I never grew up with JayJay the Jetplane," Then you were spared from that uncanny hellscape
  • @VahlTV
the curious george racism thing is hilarious, because the author of the theory is the one telling everyone that they apparently saw a monkey in a children's book and though of black people
  • Since you asked, I was terrified of Jay-Jay the Jet Plane as a child. The second I saw that first frame of the sun rising over the mountain, I would instantly turn the channel to something else. From the footage you showed, I think the physical models would’ve made it more watchable than the abysmal cgi but it still looks absolutely horrifying. Funnily enough, I absolutely loved Thomas The Tank Engine, which you would’ve thought I should also be scared by, but their face plates were much more grounded in reality and they had a unmistakable charm to their design that made them way more visually appealing.

fun fact: the sad story of Henry was originally written in the books because the Rev. W. Awdry didn't like the character and wanted him written out, but the publisher refused to publish the book unless he was given a happy ending. so Awdry cooperated and wrote another story where Henry was let back out of the tunnel and Henry was eventually given his own book and backstory, and is now a fan favorite character.
  • About the whole Mandela effect thing with the Berenstain Bears, I personally have a theory that it stems from how our minds can autocorrect things to how we expect them to be or how we usually see them to be. Stein is a common suffix in last names, and so, we'd unconsciously correct the -stain to -stein. This sort of stuff happens all the time, from people reading lines of words wrong (i.e dig bick memes, yes I am using that as an example) or how most people can still clearly read and comprehend things that are spelled horribly wrong.
  • Literally a fanfic about Binky being covered in “some kind of goo”... yeah sounds about right.
  • @7kaira13
the Berenstain Bears being heard as "steen" instead of "stain" could be attributed to hearing "steen" in the theme song due to 1. southern accent of the singer and 2. most of us probably saw it as kids that couldn't read yet
