Reading Middlemarch - Help?

    I will say, though I don't love George Eliot, I like the second half of Middlemarch more, so it is worth persevering :)

    You are not alone. It was quite a few years ago now but I started reading Middlemarch and gave up fairly early on. I think I'd be willing to give it another shot if you think it's worth it once you've finished it. No pressure!

    I actually got through the book by managing to skip the bulk of the village politics chapters which were the ones giving me the most pain to read through. I would come back to them though if I had to do some research on the topic, as I do enjoy that kind of detail in books when I am in a researchy mindset. But I do agree that Middlemarch isn’t an entertaining read (in that you can’t just read it to pass the time on a bus, etc)
