You Don't Need to Hit 10,000 Steps a Day to Get Healthy | Vantage with Palki Sharma

It's a common idea that people need to reach a threshold of 10,000 steps per day to improve their health. New research challenges that. It says that walking just 4,000 steps per day can lower risk of death. How? Palki Sharma tells you.

I am 58 and never felt better/stronger. I walk between 20K-25K steps every morning, takes me about 3-4 hours. NO medication at all, blood pressure 103/67, resting heart rate 40-50. Walking is excellent and cheap.

M waking 8000 steps from 1997 now @56 my energy level is like I was in age of 25, all body parameters are normal no medicine at all. Keep on walking 👍

As an experienced person in exercising and walking, I think that every person has to find his or her own level and what is comfortable for himself or herself. All of us are not made uniformly. What is good for one may be inimical to another. For me an average 6500 steps a day, and 50 minutes exercise works very well. As a septuagenarian, I don't take any medicines and I rarely visit a doctor.
  • Back in the 90s, People used to walk to the Store, the School etc. Walking often is what you call a Healthy Life Style. Back then nobody got stuck onto the screens of their Computers or Smart Phones either.

thanks for the clarification. I walk almost every day, even in snow and have observes that my hair loss has reduced drastically and sleep well. I'm 71 & live in the West.

I walk 10k steps every day. For good health it's 4k per day. To be in very good health, 8k to 10k is great!!

Walking as a part of NEAT is a good thing. And more the steps better it is. While 10000 isnt like a magic number, people should be encouraged to get in more steps rather than less..

Above all our temples built in earlier days were huge. Going around each sannidhi before reaching the main sanctum sanctorum would have done enough steps to be taken for health care.
