    Israel agreeing to a ceasefire and then Iran and Hezbollah calling it a day is extremely unlikely. Netenyahu’s reprisals against Iranian proxies are as much about reviving a deterrent posture damaged by October 7th as they are about the war granting Israel greater licence to strike outside its borders. Netenyahu doesn’t want to be seen to capitulate to Iran’s threats and will likely wait to retaliate before implementing a ceasefire deal.
