For cheap smaller cache pots, check the grocery store florist section clearance. Mine always has cute pots for dirt cheap, most are from orchids that died before they sold.

I started taking your advice when I got a couple of plants from Ikea and now, 2 years later, I swear by perlite, a moisture meter, plant velcro and Sansi grow lights. My collection has grown to about 30 plants and I propagate so many that I regularly give them to 2 local charity/thrift shops. One supporting a cancer hospice and one mental health charity. Thanks for all the great tips, Richard. Me, my plant babies and the charities are all very grateful!! 🪴❤

I have the exact same lighting. Makes me so sad. My house looks like a spaceship, grow lights everywhere..

I don’t really have fungus gnats anymore because of 2 reasons. First I create my own soil and second I have a carnivorous drosera plant that catches gnats all the time

Poor Mrs. Sheffield have to put up with your madness. But I’m sure there is never a dull moment

I don’t know why, but IKEA sells a lot of flower pots that have no drain holes. That didn’t deter me. I just got a 1/4” Diamond hole saw (mine cost U.S. $10 at a hardware store) and drilled a hole in the bottom of each one. You can use this trick to make plan containers of any similarly-shaped objects— extra coffee mugs, for example, or jars.

😂😂😂😂😂You're one of my favorite internet people.😂😂😂😂😂 Thanks for the plant advice and the bits of comedy. Keep doing what you're doing.

8:10 I bought a moisture meter about 15 years ago and probably never used it. It actually still looks pretty new. I didn't dare to get any houseplants because everything in my care was just dying. Even the weed, lol. I found my meter few years back and added it to my garden stuff so I could find it when I would need it. Now, that I have started my houseplant "collection", moisture meter got its own space right next to the plants. I find it very useful, especially for plants like ficus, zeezee plant, calathea zebrithea 😁 and bird of paradise. Mine is actually 3 in 1... It measures moisture, light and ph

I found cat litter pans at dollar tree here in Florida for $1.25 and they're deep enough and long enough. I couldn't find anything cheaper. Those trays are costly.

At the beginning of the year I had a 100L bag of perlite, now I don't. I started growing veggies from seed in perlite and now the plants are still in pure perlite in a semi Hydro setup. And boy does this need a lot of perlite for about ~22 Plants plus some trays with herbs.

I dont bother with a pipette for the stress coat. When you next get a new bottle make 2 pin holes opposite each other in seal. Gently squeeze the bottle to dispense. A drop comes out of the one hole and air enters the bottle through the other. ps I'm an absolute convert to the moisture meter. Totally brilliant.

Here in the Netherlands 'Pat My Cut' sounds like a good time.

A black tray? I recently started using a shoe/ boot tray. Repotting has improved greatly. (By the way...it is black)

It makes me laugh every time you give things love😅 you are too funny and seem like a very kind man😊

A lot of great tips, I like the one with the zeolite, looks great! I did the same thing with 6-8mm. perlite on any plants that attract fungus gnats, because the plant likes constantly moist soil. I put a 1" or 30mm. layer of perlite on top of the soil, it stops the gnats from getting to the soil and I got to like the clean way it looks... Double bonus.

When you got to your bin, I had to laugh. I, too, have deep feelings for my bin. I wonder if Mrs. Sheffield rolls her eyes as much as Mr. Dobak

for the velcro ties, the soft velcro should be on the inside against the plant stem :)

Morning Richard your scissors are Darlac softies scissors.
