New Rule: From the River to the Sea | Real Time with Bill Maher (HBO)

It may be a “magical time of year,” but what we all really need right now is a good dose of realism about Israel and Palestine.

Thank you, Bill. No one has said it better even now 7 months later.

You mean to tell me history isn’t a purely binary equation of light-skinned oppressors and dark-skinned oppressed?? My Gen Z sense of righteous indignation is triggered!!

Thank you so much. You have a fantastic platform and you’re using it for truth. Thank you for speaking what many are unwilling to say. Thank you for clarifying for those willing to open to what they really don’t know.

This should be required watching for anyone wanting to talk about this conflict. We can have different opinions but those opinions can't be based on missing essential facts.

I'm jewish and Israeli and first of all I would like to thank you and your team for speaking up, so thank you all. 1:34 Note: After the war of 1947, any Arab who chose to stay in Israel land got a citizenship, aka equal rights. Those who didn't want to stay, moved to the neighboring countries (who started the war on the Jews as a part of the very old trend of ethnic cleansing all Jews), and most got citizenship (which means they are not refugees! but are still claimed to be refugees by some organizations to this day, which is unheard of). Those who didn't chose either, had to live in the land under military, until this was also removed from Gaza Strip and (the terror organization) Hamas was democratically elected. Three facts in addition to that for more context for those who care to learn: 1. 'Palestine': derives from ancient Greek 'Philistia'. Philistines are the biblical Enemies of the Israelites, which tried to do what? ethnically cleanse the Jews (you can read all about 'the timeline of the name Palestine' in wikipedia).  2. 'Apartheid' claims: Israel is the only democratic state in the entire Middle East - where all of us, jews muslims christians druze can live as equals (yoseph haddad <-- example of an Israeli Arab who is speaking about that and more). But in Gaza, no Jew can live (that goes the same for LGBT as well). On October 7th, and on many terror attacks before that, all of us were targeted by Hamas, and all are working united to protect and return the kidnaped people, children and babies. 3. Donations: if you want to help the people in Gaza, please think before you give donations, they don't go to the people, but to their leaders who are literally billionaires living in total disregard to their own people in Qatar. (ismail haniyeh net worth <-- look it up)

As a long time viewer of the show, I must say this is one of the best New Rules I have seen in years. When discussing geopolitics, people often don’t look into the long, complicated history of the places in question, leaving out vital context to the modern situation. More importantly, those people will also forget that there are many past examples of similar situations in history that can help us get a nuanced perspective on the current conflict. To the people reading this comment, please share this Bill Maher video so more people can better understand the Israel-Hamas War.

ppl that say that Bethlehem belongs to palestine should know that "Bethlehem" is a Hebrew name - "בֵּית לֶחֶם" meaning "house of bread".

Reading some of the comments below, I do believe a detailed history of the world, going back to ancient times, which states all the facts, needs to be taught in schools. Clearly, there are a lot of people who also don't know how to use a library to look up old newspaper articles, as well. It never fails to amaze me how so many people would rather believe gossip than find out the facts of the matter! Thank you, Bill, for at least trying to educate them.

Kashmir valley was 100% Hindu just about 900 years ago today it is 100% Moslem and the last remnants of Hindus were driven out by Muslims in 1989 when the familiar phrase "flee convert or die" was blaring from the loudspeakers atop mosque minarets.
