Can I beat Pokémon Ultra Moon with only Bug Types using Hardcore Nuzlocke Rules?

Normal Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. Fainting = Death
2. Can catch all the Bug Type Pokémon on each Route (Species Clause); This includes Pokémon that evolve INTO Bug types, but does NOT include non-Bug Pokémon that evolved from Bug types!
3. Nickname Pokémon

Hardcore Nuzlocke Ruleset:
4. No items in battle (held items okay)
5. No leveling past the next island kahuna/totem Pokémon/E4 (at the START of the battle)
6. Play on "Set" battle mode

  • "Who would watch a 1 hour long nuzlocke video?" "OH BOY, 1 HOUR"
  • One thing people forget is this is the generation Masquerain got it’s stats boosted in the transition so this thing with quiver dance and intimidate is kind of a monster. Gotta respect the little guy
  • one thing that i appreciate about your script writing is that it’s very “audio-only” friendly. seeing one of your videos pop up before work means that i know i’ll have some entertainment on my drive!
  • "As my therapist constantly reassures me, good things come in small packages" got a good laugh out of me. Another banger
  • I really liked the extra encounters per route. The challenge is hard enough as it is, and this seems more fun for you.
  • Poppy should be a Yamper for halloween! Just get a yellow neck pillow and you're set!
  • Watching you just ignore Necrozma on Mt. Lanakila was hilarious. Like I’m imagining they see you coming and start reciting their “I was wrong” villain speech they’ve been prepping for a month and then you just walk away three sentences in

I hope you know how much we viewers appreciate all the hard work you put into these challenge videos. Your videos are super entertaining, and I genuinely look forward to every single new release from you. Keep up the good work Dr. Flygon!
  • the whole mantine surf part followed by butterfree using a move tutor move made me realize how cool it is to be able to use those in a run because youre not locked to basically post game here. makes me wonder how the swsh dlc would change a run with the new move tutors it has
  • "Hapu's super easy, barely an inconvenience." I see you Flygon. The Ultra Games, despite their ridiculous amount of cutscenes, were really something. I really enjoyed Nuzlocking them in the past, really cool to see the bug types doing so well, though that snowballing at the Mimikyu fight, I felt that.
  • At 10:00 I love that Hala's Makuhita lands a critical hit on an arm thrust hit that still manages to do just one damage.
  • Golisopod is so underrated. I love it! First Impression, Aqua Jet, Sucker Punch... he's a great revenge killer. I felt your pain buddy on Attempt 1
  • Love to see bug types getting love, my favourite type always deserves more lol!
  • My man has one of the most impressive subscriber ratios I’ve seen. Good for you, you deserve it.
  • I’m so glad you allowed yourself to catch all the bugs on a given route, it makes the video so much more fun
  • I’m a huge Primarina line fan, I was obsessed with mermaids and sirens as a kid so having a singing mermaid starter was pure dopamine, flooded my system with childlike joy

I always loved Hau as the final boss of this game. As much as i have a lot of criticism to UM's changes to the story, letting Hau take the role of Red to your Blue in this game really helps make him feel more impactful as a rival. I just wish that if you did lose the first time, they actually had him in place as the champ, instead of just replaying the first cutscene again.
  • Pre-video: Sun and Moon actually have a pretty stacked roster of Bug Pokemon so I'm expecting this to be fairly easy Edit at halfway point: Garbage luck with Ribombee and Pinsir both being entirely terrible followed by losing Golisopod and Anorith early, funny how easily things can fall apart Edit #2: Yeah there we go, that second run was more like what I was expecting this challenge to look like.
  • Genuinely surprised you didn't snag the larvesta in lush jungle. It could've also been pretty useful even though it doesn't evolve until 59
  • As an Iowan, I just have to say that I legitimately cackled for a full 30 seconds at your segue into today's sponsor 😂😂 I always love your videos!
