  • I just started my spring, three day fast after my meal today. I'll break my fast with our Easter meal. I'll be 61 next month. When I was 57, I was a mess. I was almost 300 lbs, high blood pressure, asthma, and crippling osteoarthritis and bone spurs in my foot and ankle. I could barely walk with a cane, had orthotics, ankle supports and braces up to my knee etc. I was in such pain, I truly thought I was going to have a stroke and not live very long. Covid was just starting and we were in lockdown. I happened upon one of Dr Fung's interviews on YouTube..it changed my life. I had tried everything else to lose weight and what he said made so much sense to me. I watched more interviews and lectures and read his books. Learning how to fast and eat healthy keto, I ended up losing 160 lbs., I'm off all medications, my asthma is gone and my osteoarthritis pain is hardly noticeable now. I'm maintaining great and loving my fasting lifestyle 🥰. I'm so thankful 🙏😊

67 yrs old diabetic 2...three years ago...doctor gave me ADA approved diet list dated 2017, metformin and lipitor.. I ran.....stopped all meds, changed to a holistic doctor and in three months thru old fashion Atkins, keto, fasting and now keto/carnivore reversed all metabolic diseases and maintained. Feel great!! Thank you doctors for spreading this message!!! 🎉

Jason is the voice of reason in this dogmatic space. 👏
  • Fixing hormones is a big one, you cannot reap the full benefits and of good diet if your hormones are off. He’s totally right about this.

Dr. Jason Fung, you have saved my life. As a 48 yrs old Asian woman living in Korea, I've just went through a total hysterectomy removal and a toal thyroid gland removal. So, I have very low estrogen levels and thyroid hormone levels. I have incredible doctors who had conducted the surgeories, they have told me it would be very difficult for me to lose weight since I have low levels of estrogen and thyroid which made me so depressed. Then I encountered a podcast interviewing you which led me to start an OMAD KETOGENIC CALORIC DEFICIT DIET. I have lost 13kg (nearly 30 lbs) in 80 days. I walk or do home training for 30 minutes for my brain health and mood. I am now overweight and not obese. I am 160cm 62kg now. I still have a long way to go, and I think this type of diet is a change in my life style and not a temporary diet program. I am happy, well-slept, in a good mood all the times middle aged woman. Thanks to you. I really appreciate what you are doing to the world. You have saved my life! ( Sorry for imperfect English) I tell people around me who are suffering from insluin resistance or weight about you and the books you've written. Thank you.
  • I have a lot of respect for Dr. Fung. When he said,"T he general population has a lower level of Testosteron and I'm not really sure why"? I was perplexed, here he saying all these health issues are diet related, but he is not sure why testosteron level are falling? He knows exactly why. It's all about what we are being fed by corporate america's food industry.

I tell people when appropriate that eating less is best and as an aside I have eaten one meal a day since 2010 because It makes me feel good.... simple... then I walk away.... I am 73 so I do not want to lose weight ... muscle and fat is the name of the game now..... I eat well, keep moving, am working,,,, enjoy my life... not wealthy, could do with more money,,,, but that keeps me keen

ICU nightshift nurse here. Thank you for tackling shift work. My circadian rhythm is all messed up. Can't switch on my nights off. Hopefully, can get a morning shift that's not as taxing soon.
  • @elainec5333
Nice to see that he’s still practical and honest. Good person!

Tested positive for covid 3x at age 63-64 bc i work in healthcare office at nirsing home. Absolutely zero symptoms. But...i did get to work from home for 14 days each positive test 😂. Carnivore since age 62 , not even a cold in last 3 yrs.

Dr Fung's comments on muscle loss around the 34:00 mark was very interesting. I think he broke it down very well.

Dr. Fung, i listened to you and I used fasting in the beginning of my weight loss. A few 48 hour, but mostly OMAD. I think it was very useful for me , I had a lot of fat to loose and I did. I had to learn about how to break the fast and Dr. Berry's opinion was to eat eggs at first, then after an hour or two you could eat meat. It's always about having a food plan. That plan needs to be focused on whole, healthy food. My thought process then and now is what will be nurishing and I scrutinize most food that comes in a box or bag as poison when ingredients listed are unknown. I mostly eat meat and eggs because it's so easy. If good keto vegetables are available I'll eat them. All the old carb loaded foods I always liked and ate are gone and I don't miss them. I'm in a really good place, a new way of eating.

When Dr Ben Bikman said that menopausal women become insulin resistant it was eye opening. I wish I had known this ten years ago I would have dropped the carbs immediately. But that wasn’t a popular way of thinking back then, that research was not mainstream and all sorts of “cures” were sold through supermarkets and pharmacies which cost a lot and did nothing.
  • @gracemclean2098
Thanks for your information for shift working. I gained 40 pounds after working the overnight shift because it took me 6 months for my body to adjust which added more arthritis in knees. It didn't help that I was going through menopause. I haven't been able to fast past 10 hours but that plus low carb and getting more sleep, after a year I have now lost 50 pounds. All this information is helping make those changes.
  • @MsMickeygal
Hey Jason, best Intermittent Fasting book I can get
  • I’ve always felt better low carb/low to no salt, but I couldn’t sustain it—because I wasn’t eating enough fat. I wish I knew that I was listening to my body and was on the right track, but just needed to add more fat to my diet.
  • @EricaBassi99
It has been shown that eating meat raises your testosterone levels. Dr Anthony Chaffe is a neurologist on YouTube who has treated patients with a carnivore diet and has raised his patient's testosterone levels this way. Also doing weight resistance exercise.
