It will be a case of “welcome to my world” as our first contributor moves in with a single-parent household to witness first-hand the challenges they face. A second contributor will live in a carer’s household to experience what life is like for a carer; and a third will find themselves living in cramped conditions with a family whose main breadwinner is trying to support their family on welfare.

This is the best way to understand have these politicians live it for a month

If the mother with 4 children were to work more hours and lose her benefits, she also must deal with the problem of who watches the kids while she's gone.

My mom and dad were married 60 years. My mom had Alzheimer's for over 10 years and she was home the whole time. Dad was her main caregiver. It took a huge toll on him emotionally and physically. No, he is not on welfare. I couldn't imagine going through what he did on welfare. My mom passed away on August 9.
  • As a child we were on welfare and foodstamps It helped to survive but you do not prosper and become dependent and helpless - lack of education is a huge factor - but now I am sure I could not the world has changed so much

Living in the Netherlands, carers allowance doesn’t exist. It would make a difference if we could work less to help loved ones.

The problem is that welfare and food stamps was designed for temporary relief when you're down financially, people have exploited it as their means of income for their entire lives, which leaves less money available for those who need it

I cant live on my social security check. Im stuck living with my adult son because my income is way under the poverty level and with the recent amputation of my leg, I'm exceedingly glad I'm where I'm safe with family. I could speak for hours on my view on this and so many other subjects

Welfare is dehumanising as you become dependent on the system. The struggle is always how to get out
  • As a teenager, iwas on welfare, with my 2 boys, no child support, but then started working 7 dollars an hour, in group home, loved my job. Kids grown now there married working .😊

I count my blessings lived on streets slept in churches. Seen a lot on disability hv housing flat. Thank God for governments people's charity. Though hearing alot rich people paying tax. They judge us. I've got mental health problems because abuse. Yes in perfect world is love to work. Life's not all black n white. N when I hv extra money I help those in need with it. Don't judge a book by its cover. Loved watching these people. Helping others.

When my mom passed, my dad hit a brick wall. He didn't know what to do and sometimes still doesn't. Seeing him go through depression and him trying to hide it is hard. He is just trying to figure out why he is still here. I think he feels like a burden to the family now.
  • Us from Africa we are amazed on how much the government is doing for you
  • People need the positivity of information that helps not cause problems. My mother had an 8th grade education because her mother died when she was 8 and her father didn't want to finish his job as a parent, and people don't care about that, nor do they care how people get to that point, and that DOESN'T help.

What is it with new tred to repost old videos? Many of these documentaries from years ago keep showing up with newer uploaded dates.
