Corey Feldman may have faded away in the 90s but he starred in the two greatest kid movies of the 80s.
  • I never used to truly understand this scene but Teddy has some major issues in his childhood and I love when he says I don’t need a babysitter and Chris says you do too because Chris knows about Teddys problems and just wants to look out for him. A true friend

Just when teddy said ‘I’ll kill you!” at 1:22 while the train passes made me laugh every time
  • Chris saves teddy from himself 👍 Chris Chambers is a very heroic kid 😁

Teddy trying to dodge a train while they are on an adventure to find a kid who was hit and killed by a train... sometimes Darwin writes its own story.
  • Fun Fact: In this part of Stand by me the train is played by McCloud River Railroad #19, a 2-8-2 “Mikado” built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in April 1915. This is one of two McCloud River Railroad steam locomotives used in the film, with the other being McCloud River Railroad 25 (Now in operation at the Oregon Coast Scenic Railroad located in Garibaldi, Oregon). It was also used in the film Emperor of the North. Today this locomotive is undergoing restoration work at the Age of Steam Roundhouse located in Sugarcreek, Ohio.
  • All four of these kids had some sort of issue that they were dealing with and they all had each other to bond with and cope with. That's what friendship is all about!
  • The interesting thing to note is in the book Chris dies the same way. But Vern died in a house fire in college. And Teddy died in a car accident Leaving Gordon the last survivor of the trip. They changed it in the movie and I think Teddy ends up as a handyman and Vern a forklift operator. The original outcome of those two must have been too depressing for the movie’s somewhat uplifting message.

Trains are huge objects and even though they are moving very fast their size obscures their actual speed, like an airliner approaching an airport looks like it’s moving very slowly. When the train is on you and you realize how fast it’s actually going, you’d be lucky to dodge anything. Chris saved his life there.
