CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Hades (Ralph Fiennes) comes to Argos and threatens to release the Kraken on its people unless they sacrifice their princess, Andromeda (Alexa Davalos).

FILM DESCRIPTION:
The 1981 mythological fantasy adventure Clash of the Titans is resurrected in this remake from Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier. Discovered at sea as an infant by a weary fisherman, demigod Perseus (Sam Worthington) grows up with no real knowledge of his celestial origins until his watchful guardian, Io (Gemma Arterton), informs him that he is the offspring of Zeus (Liam Neeson). When Zeus' brother Hades (Ralph Fiennes) casually wipes out Perseus' family, the grieving son vows to show the gods just what kind of damage humankind can inflict on its creators. Before long, Perseus and a small group of soldiers are venturing out into the desert in order to find a way to stop the Kraken, a terrifying force of nature that an indignant Hades has vowed to unleash upon man should they fail to offer up beloved princess Andromeda (Alexa Davalos) as a sacrifice. Along the way, the soldiers encounter a trio of frightening witches with second sight, contend with Hades' devoted servant Calibos (Jason Flemyng), battle giant scorpions, and come face to face with Medusa (Natalia Vodianova), the dreaded gorgon whose gaze has the power to turn men into stone.

  • In actual mythology Hades was one of the nicest Greek gods and one of the fairest. Just because Hades is god of the underworld doesn't automatically mean he's evil
  • Queen: Who are you? HAdes: I'm wearing a cape, appeared from the shadows, and just defeated all of your guards. Who do you think I am? Queen: Batman?

I love how Hades is depicted as a frail, quiet old man as he walks up those stairs, yet his very name instills terror and fear to all who cross his path. I really enjoyed Fienne's portrayal of Hades.
  • "You are specks of dust beneath our fingernails. Your very breath is a gift from Olympus. You have insulted powers beyond your comprehension" gives me goosebumps every time.
  • @R4Y2k
"Who are you?" "I am Lord Vold.... Hades.... I am Hades!"
  • "In 10 days, when the sun is eclipsed, I will unleash the Kraken. I'm sorry you have to wait so long, but we have to borrow the Kraken from Scandinavian mythology and we have a bit of paper work to complete. Yggdrasil bureaucracy is Sisyphean in its tedium."
  • This scene truly represents ''What is a King to a God''
  • When you level 99 with well spec gear, and you visit the noob low level fields
  • The Queen - “WE are the GODS NOW!” Hades - “Hold my beer.”
  • When he almost whispers "i am Hades" yet it echoes in everyones hearts and fills them with absolute fear. Perfect scene
  • @MrPjw5
Perseus: “NYAAAAAAHHHH!!!” Hades: “Lol, you’re cute. Also, that’s totally my line.”
  • People often mistake Hades for being the God of Death. No, he is not the God of Death, but the God of the Underworld. Thanatos is the God of Death. Know your greek mythology guys! Your welcome!
  • 1:07 The way he delivers the that line, "I am Hades", sends shivers down my spine, he really makes this character compelling, believable, terrifying...

If I recall correctly, Hades wasn't exactly a villain in this movie. He decided to betray his fellow gods because they tricked him into ruling the Underworld and he's still bitter about it, and rightfully so. While the gods basked in the prayers of the mortals in their shiny fancy home, Hades got none of that while he is forced to rule and live in such a gloomy and unpleasant place. Seeing how the humans have become arrogant and disrespectful to the gods, he saw this as an opportunity to do his revenge. I like how this issue, the betrayal by his brothers and why he turned bad, was addressed in the sequel movie.
  • One of the most badass entrances ever. The music and the voice and when he has his name. Amazing
  • @nycot107
"Who are you?!" Um ... Does it matter who he is? When someone manifests via smoke and ash, then turns into a swirling vortex that sucks up everything in its path, knowing their name is the LAST thing you should worry about.
  • @pikkon899
"Who are you?" The disrespect in that woman still went on. Damn. Her face after the God of the underworld spoke his name is one sheer regret.
  • “You are specks of dust beneath our fingernails.” Line makes my spine chill lol I love it
