Lee Miller, Anne Boleyn and Sylvia Plath - the deadcrushes of each of the band members - conjured up by a supercomputer in a post-apocalyptic world. Absolutely beautiful

can we have an Alt-J and Glass Animals collab? Could you imagine what that music video would be like!!!!
  • @mlapamusic
Pure piece of art. Deadcrush is the sickest name for a song

I'm so grateful to be alive at the same time as alt-J
  • I'm so glad this song got a music video! Deadcrush is probably my favourite of Relaxer. And this music video is mind blowing!
  • @vendrasesar368
I just realise that "you're my DC" means you're my deadcrush

This song and video is incredible. Lee Miller's runway walk in her army uniform, as she was a fashion model before a military photographer. Anne Boleyn, the mother of the church of England before the stained glass and her prayer dance. Sylvia Plaith gripping her head as she struggled with her mental health and committed suicide at 30, her works recognized post-death (mostly) because of her very crappy husband, who even burned many of her poems. Amazing work to everyone involved!
  • -Thirty seconds in... "I think i need to be high for this" .... -Music starts... -"I'm high"
  • Kinda sad that this music video wasn't alt j sitting in a basement eating rice cakes while recording this song

I'm an old man and just discovered this fantastic art. Its more than music and lyrics. Its pure art.

Damn... over 4 years and I'm still listening to this masterpiece like at least once a week, always experiencing something new. Like it was my first time.

"As we were finishing writing our second album, This Is All Yours, we came up with a quick jam which we luckily captured on one of our phones. This turned into 'Deadcrush', which is a word we made up to describe someone who is no longer alive that you fancy. Thus the first verse is about Lee Miller, Joe's deadcrush, the second about Anne Boleyn, Gus's."- alt-J

So I didn't care much for this song at first listen on the album- but with the new video, and now knowing the back-story... man, I love it!  Alt-J lyrics are so often bizarre and disturbing, but they have such an amazing sound (collective) and carry such an  uncomfortably wonderful subject matter repertoire- gaaaah...so amazing!

Joe's deadcrush is Elizabeth "Lee" Miller (1907-1977) American model/war photographer Gus's deadcrush is Anna Bolina (1501-1536) Queen of England, married to and beheaded by King Henry Tudor VIII Thom's deadcrush is Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) American poet; but she didn't make the lyrics
  • The choreography is simply mesmerising... especially the chorus part Makes me want to watch it over and over
