The more I listen the more I like it. A few songs I’m not huge on but overall I think this project contains some of his best production and most unique structures

Steps Beach is a grower, it’s one of my favourites now

If you’ve been following Gambino since mixtapes you will find this album really sums up his run.

Knowing this is his last album as Gambino, it almost feels like he’s saying goodbye by revisiting the variety of styles he’s shown across his albums and mixtapes.

the fact that this man wrote the movie and made the soundtrack for it and it is fucking beautiful genuinely amazes me. he’s so talented

Album is fire

If you watch the interview he did about this album, you'll learn that the whole point of the album is to try and allow his listeners to discover sounds from all around the world, across multiple genres so we can all feel one with each other, no matter our musical taste. He is essentially bringing people from all walks of life to gather for this experience of an album and for that, I have HUGE respect for him. Also, getting Legend Glover to participate in the tracks just shows the love he has for his family over everything as well. 10/10 based on production, experimentation, literal soundtrack for a movie he stars in and ending with a bang as his last album🔥

The mix of styles in this cut is insane. Glover is one of the greatest artists of our time.

Anyone else catch how We Are God samples the original intro for Atavista?

I think the fact that he hadn’t seen the trailer really kind of made him shine a mixed light on this album. i disagree with jon and think there is a solid cohesiveness narratively behind the tracks. Instrumentally there is so much versatility(which i like) but narratively there seems to be a solid story. Bando Stone is a metaphor for gambino and this story is really the epic send off for the character. Bando appears to be secluded from the world and on the end of his rope but an sci-fi apocalyptic event has him now grouped up with a woman and a boy (who we can assume to be her son). Through their time together he grows closer to the woman becoming a partner to her and a father figure to the boy. Wild alien sci-fi stuff appears to happen in between and ultimately a heroic sendoff to bando stone aka Childish gambino.
