In my opinion the musical box is Genesis at their best. This song is pure magic and wit... a near perfect composition crafted with the contribution of every single member of the band. And I am not a purist fan of the Gabriel era: I can appreciate many songs in Duke or Abacab etc. But this is really a different piece of art.

The unaccompanied bass pedal solo from Michael Rutherford before the song was cut off.

My favourite Genesis track, beautifully restored, one of the best Prog tracks of the 20th century. Absolute gold.

I could not tell which I preferred: this or the studio version. This by far was the best live version.

When it was released, I wore the grooves out on this record (replaced twice) when I was 15. Nothing else mattered. Only thing I played for months. I even listened to it in my sleep using auto-tone-arm-return on the record player. Never gets old (until it's worn out and you have to replace it). Phil's drumming is not human.

I remember seeing this live as a 15 year old it has never left me “The Spotlight” shining on the Old Man when he says Why Don’t You Touch Me I honestly can’t begin to say what an experience that was . Will never be repeated 🎶👌👍🎸🎹

Love the way this song moves from quiet and calm to wild and then back to quiet. Like Beethoven, so emotional and powerful.

This song seems to sound better live. Love the drumming. Some of my favourite stuff is the keyboard work when he starts saying after all this time. And then those drums come in .,🎶👍
