MY HERMES JOURNEY IS OVER! My Experience with buying Quota Bags at Hermes in 2023. This video was inspired by the article by PURSEBOP called SECRETS OF THE HERMES GAME - FACT OR FICTION in which the article tackled issues such as the Allocation System, Pre Spend, The rules changing and the timing of those rule changes. Here is my take on this as I do have a lot of experience!

    This whole system reminds me of an abusive relationship. One partner constantly scanning the mood of the other, trying to determine if they are in favour on any given day, bending their knee, pleading for their favour. Is it really worth the grovelling, the kowtowing?

    This is the best Youtube video I've ever seen on Hermes. It's so refreshing and reassuring to finally find someone who hasn't been brainwashed by Hermes' narcissistic marketing technique. I would never let a store treat me the way Hermes treats it's customers nor would I ever let anyone force me to be friends with a sales associate just so I could make a purchase.

    I felt like a beggar in Hermes store. I’ve been looked down by the SA … dude I walk in the store means I have money to buy basically I have X50 times more money than the stupid employee yet third class service !!! I refused to be disrespected

    I have a handful of Hermes items (silver jewelry, belts, watch, etc) all purchased without any intention of requesting a bag. I just buy what I love, but don’t want to jump through hoops to spend my money. And none of the H bags make me fall madly in love like so many of my luxury bags from other houses do. I mean, yes, the quality is undeniably top notch, but they don’t give me that thrill. And as a woman in her late 50’s, the B feels a little “mature”, and since I am already mature, I don’t need to stack the deck 😅😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

    I want to walk into a store and buy what I want. Having to cultivate a relationship with an SA is annoying to me. This isn’t just Hermes.

    Run don’t walk from an abusive relationship…for a handbag! It’s crazy, absolutely insane. Honestly, you have the money to spend and they should be happy/grateful to sell their products to you, it is a sales transaction after all. They are abusing customers to make them desperate and needy, such vile marketing strategy.

    I had the same experience as you.I was offered a Birkin with no previous purchases at all by an amaizing AS.Suddenly she left and then the coldness arrived to my Hermès expectations.🥶 🥶🥶

    In the book Deluxe: How luxury lost its luster, the author wrote that in the 1980s, you could go into Hermes and pay a 50% deposit snd order the bag you wanted. So, it has not always been difficult to get a Birkin or Kelly.

    There was a point where I thought I’d vomit if I saw one more LV Neverfull…. Now, it’s Hermes…. Despite the company’s attempt to remain “exclusive” Hermes bags (especially Kelly & Birkin) are common. I see them everywhere. I’m sure plenty are fakes, but still has the same effect. I don’t wear mine anymore bc the original appeal of being an uncommon bag no longer exists. And I certainly wouldn’t pay what they cost these days, or go through all the hoopla…. If I can’t buy the product I want when I need it, something is very wrong with the business model….

    It’s next to impossible to get a quota in Canada without a huge pre-spend. I’m not willing to spend $30-$40k for the chance to buy a $15k bag.

    You’ve been really lucky with what you have so there is one positive to take from it. I was a huge old Céline fan. I used to buy regularly from the Dublin store (saved a fortune when exchange rates were 1.40 eur to the pound), my SA was the manager and he was wonderful, we used to WhatsApp jokes even. He’d buy me posh lunches and send flowers on my birthday. Then he left just after Phoebe Philo quit. I was broken hearted, okay no that’s too dramatic 🤣 but I stopped buying. It seriously cured me, I’ve downsized and not much interests me now. I’ve unsubscribed from big channels and prefer ones like you now. I’ll tell you, I don’t chase bags , I don’t chase men and the only queue I’m joining is for a zinger burger or a fresh bloomer 😂

    Good timing on this video. While traveling in Europe a few weeks back, my husband and I stopped in the local Hermes store and were treated very differently than what we were used to with our hometown store. My husband was really put off even though it was not his appointment. We waited for about half an hour while some of the associates were gathering and talking about some of the new stock despite our sitting in one of the lounge areas right next to them. Finally we gave up and decided to leave and walked over to LV which is consistently over the top with their customer service. Our experience was so good that when we were done, my husband - who had purchased many gifts for me at Hermes - stated, “you know, I think our experiences today have changed who I shop with”. I am happy either way of course, but I think there is a going to be a point where Hermes is going to turn off the majority of their customers. Maybe we count our blessings for what we have and move on? I don’t want to be made to feel like a “burden” to the brand.

    Yes you had great experiences early days- a dream run! This is why I’m not a fan of the house…. Alienating their customers is just not ok.
  • That's crazy. You spend thousands of dollars with a company you like, then be told your previous money spent means absolutely nothing. They want loyalty but no thanks back to you.Wow!
