If you have hypothyroidism and you are struggling to lose weight, you aren't alone! Many thyroid patients suffer from weight gain and the inability to lose weight mostly because they are following the wrong advice.

If you have low thyroid function or a sluggish thyroid and you're trying to lose weight, here's how to do it:

Step 1. Start with a fresh set of thyroid lab tests. Getting your labs tested first will give you valuable information on how well your thyroid is working.
Step 2. Focus on thyroid function and thyroid medication. Adjusting your medication can have a huge impact on your metabolism.
Step 3. Eat for your thyroid. Focus on eating high-quality whole foods while avoiding processed foods.
Step 4. Improve your gut health. Improving your gut health will have a positive impact on thyroid function. Probiotics and prebiotics are a good place to start.
Step 5. Manage your stress. Because of the connection between your thyroid and cortisol, stress can bring down your thyroid and metabolism.
Step 6. Exercise regularly and stay consistent. Get your heart rate up to 50-70% of max for 20-30 minutes 3-4 times per week.

Using these tips will help you lose weight without running the risk of damaging your thyroid.

I am also WILDLY sick of doctors telling you to remove stressors in your life like thats something that you can just decide to have or not have.

I'm hypo and lost 80 lbs by eating a high fat/protein in the morning because it helped me feel full for most of the day, then another protein meal within 6 hrs. I take chromium picolinate to help with sugar/carb cravings. I also do daily cardio and every 2-3 days strength training. It was a big commitment and am still working on shedding the last few pounds. My A1c tracks at 4.5 without any medication when I was tracking at 12.5 a yr ago. I actually followed Dr. Berg's advice. I'm glad it worked out.

I get the feeling that health insurance pharma offers only synthroid and levyrothyroxine

How can you get your doc to agree to do all these tests? I find they gloss over symptoms and want to blame everything on age and menopause 😢

Thank you for your videos. I’ve been dieting IF, low fat, mostly raw vegan, no dairy, no oil, and the weight loss is slow. I can’t figure this weight issue out and I’m so tired of it. The high effort required to lose an ounce is discouraging, especially because I know if I eat even a crumb off diet, I’ll be up lbs.

It's true , I lost 38 pounds adjusting my Thyrovanz Bovine Thyroid glandular and taking Berberine. No diet or exercise. Just this. In fact I ate junk food and soda whenever i felt like it. As an experiment that it is all about hormones and NOT eat less move more. Now I have tightened up my diet because I have been stuck with the same weight for a year and also keeping an eye on my thyroid levels, insulin and my iron deficiency which also plays a role in higher blood sugar .

Yes. I give up as well. My diet is simple, I eat very little processed foods. I am now concentrating on walking and using a stepper several times a week. That's all I can do. At least at my age I have a good heart, no high blood pressure or diabetes and no high cholesterol.

Finally someone is saying it, I wasted so many years trying every traditional diet and realizing it's not gonna work for me

Thank you so much for your video's. ..they are very encouraging and I feel like someone understands and helps better than any endo I've ever had. ❤
  • @amandaspear3373
Could you possibly speak to the patients that no longer have a thyroid? Especially in regards to weight loss. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you speaks to this issue. Thank you!
  • Thank you, thank you and thank you. How nice with a doctor that understand. My doc doesn't seem to have the word Hashimotos in his vocabulary ... That makes it a bit "going uphill"... Hurray for you and the You Tube info. I love'em! Best regards Mette

  • @mirnaschmeller3649
Thank you for sharing your knowledge Dr. Childs. Now I understand why I haven't been able to lose weight even though I've been doing intermittent fasting, and a very low carbs diet😟for over a year. In fact, instead I've gained 35lbs which I couldn't understand why. I don't snack, and most days I only eat a meal/day.
