It looks like Nintendo & Sega's traditional collaboration is no more with a strange reason being given for the cancelation. A recent financial report from Microsoft shows another big decline for Xbox hardware, but also another sizable jump for software.

NFTs? The Olympic Committee cancelled the Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games license for NFTs? That’s one of the most ridiculous reasons I’ve ever heard. I thought NFTs were dead at this point.

Wouldn't be surprised if that was part of IOC and Nintendo falling out, right before the Tokyo Opening Ceremony. From the Rio Closing ceremony that teased that Nintendo would be heavily involved, to Tokyo Opening featuring Video Game music and Nintendo nowhere to be found, with Nintendo no longer being involved anymore being reported just ahead of it back then.

Not only was it a big deal when Sonic and Mario teamed up, it was such a crazy notion that Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine once faked Sonic being in Smash Bros as an April Fools joke. That was before you could just pop on the internet and fact check things, so people's minds were blown before they realized it was fake.

I understand the investor class seeks more and more money; but it is laughable yet frustrating how bad at it they are. NFT and Esport are buzzwords that draw them like moths to a flame!

The Mario & Sonic deal being cancelled in favor of NFTs decision was likely made back in 2020 or 2021 when NFTs were really hot and something everyone was looking at and chasing. This probably was not a decision that was made in the past year. Games take more time than that to make. Now that NFTs are dead, I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Mario & Sonic game at the 2028 Olympics.

The xbox one failed update is worse. I have a Xbox One S with a disc drive, used it last week, literally the morning after, EVERYTHING is gone! I didn't factory reset, yet it's at the setup screen/process. In the middle of Applying the update, when it reaches around 60% - 74% it fails. I was almost done beating my disc based games

IOC are even more corrupt than FIFA. 🤷♀️ Nintendo and Sega, should just make generic sports games without the Olympic Games integration.

I think it’s stupid for the Olympics to part ways with SEGA and Nintendo in favour of NFTs. They now they’re going to lose so much money from that.

I'll never pre-order or pay full price for a Ubisoft game because they're always the first ones to go on sale of have a permanent price drop. Good things come to those who can be patient for just a few months.
