Great bag for beginner sewists. In this unique DIY video, we will be creating a crossbody tote bag from an old thrifted beach towel. You don't have to use a towel though, you can use a blanket, pretty fabrics, thrifted curtain, denim or whatever your heart desires. The sewing is simple...no closures, no lining and no pockets to deal with. We will be decorating the tote with a pretty fabric bird applique and beautiful vintage floral lace. You decorate yours however you want, let your imagination be your guide, but most of all have fun!

  • Traci, I remember that towel pattern from the 70's. I even have old dishes with a similar pattern. It's an inspiration to see how you remake these vintage and otherwise discarded items into a new and useful Bag or Clothes. I am looking at old vintage things and wondering how to remake them as you do. It takes me a lot longer to make a new Bag or Blouse, Vest or Kimono Coat out of old fabrics - since they have to be washed and cut apart & ironed to begin with. But there is a satisfaction about doing all of that. Saving just a tiny bit of the beautiful old fabrics and handmade things from being lost to a landfill is worth the effort. It's about loving and appreciating the old, vintage stuff.
  • Our Dear Ms. Myers: Love, love love your channel! The way you cut the first doily to make longer trim: Brilliant! I look forward to everyone of your videos and shorts!!

Tracy, the bag is fabulous! And so are you! Thank you!❤️🌺
  • Well you did it again! Love it 💕 It really does take me back to the 60’s . I think my generation was thrifters way before it became popular like today . I remember paper dresses and Go go boots! lol ! I loved the Bohemian bags then & now …. It’s like a blast 💥 from the past . Thanks for sharing your creativity with The rest of us . Have a safe and productive week ☮️🩷
  • We can't go shopping in most stores around here, with a Tote Bag that large anymore. Plus, two different people tried to snatch my purse, on two different occasions, at our local Walmart. A small cross-body bag, that can be hidden under my clothes) is the best choice for shopping around here. I do most of my shopping in small stores in another county now. It is safer. Both of your bags are beautiful.
  • I love those crocheted doilies. Someone spent a long time making them since all crochet is done by hand, it's good that they are finding a new life as decorative elements. If you think about the skill and time spent making them, it's amazing how cheap they are now.
