2:52 – Nurburgring Fastest Lap Record Run

Another milestone on the 919 Tribute Tour! We are referring to 29th June, 2018. The 919 Hybrid Evo was on the starting grid at the Nürburgring to write motorsport history once again. The mission was to set a new record on the 20-kilometre Nordschleife circuit. The driver: Timo Bernhard. The result: 5:19.55 minutes.

Like almost no other racing circuit, the Nürburgring together with its legendary Nordschleife places supreme demands on materials and the skill of the driver. The challenging route weaving its way through the densely wooded and winding terrain of the Volcanic Eifel region is unforgiving and always presents a real challenge even for consummate professionals.

Records have been set, heroes have been celebrated and legends have been born at the Nürburgring for as long as anyone can remember. The 919 Hybrid boasts an impressive track record of victories at the Eifel circuit which is so steeped in history. When the World Endurance Championship made its first appearance in Germany in 2015, the two Porsche teams claimed a rousing first and second place finish. First on the podium were Hartley, Bernhard and Webber. Dumas, Jani and Lieb occupied second place. The successful trio of Bernhard/Hartley/Webber were again the first to cross the finish line in 2016, and the sister car finished in fourth place. The next first and second place finish came in 2017. Once again Bernhard, Hartley and Bamber had their noses in front, closely followed by the Porsche trio of Jani, Lotterer and Tandy.

The 919 Tribute Tour continues – be part of it! The next stop is the 25 Hour VW Fun Cup at Spa-Franchorchamps from 6th to 8th July, 2018.

German engineering at it's finest on a legendary German track
  • @mike86mike
I paused the video halfway thru so he could rest a little.
  • @kassenz
I don't think the tire engineers get enough credit for designing a tire that can get that high of grip and those kinds of high speeds
  • From 150kmh to 340kmh was so quick, instant torque, very impressive!
  • @renwra1384
I really cannot grasp the concept of being able to drive this precise at these speeds. Bonkers, insane, mad, not one word covers this record.
  • @RedboRF
He was so fast he finished younger than started
  • @chris-hayes
The instant acceleration off the turns and the insane grip around turns is mesmerizing to watch.
  • @klonck06
i can say it again 4 years later: the greatest video of a driver who has been ALL OUT with perfect control, perfect lines and speed of HELL when you see that he takes curves at 300km/h. Timo, you have adamantium balls
  • Very impressive. Almost as fast as me when I wake up at 850 and need to be at work at 9.
  • @spuriouseffect
Taking curves at 250, pure insanity. Cruising the back straight at 368...... .priceless.
  • The sheer amount of skills required by one driver to do this is mind boggling. This is the amount of bravery david showed against goliath ..This is outerwordly impressive ..Kudos to you Timo..Well done =)
  • @CrossWindsPat
the speed at which he is taking those turns over blind crest is just staggering,,, What an absolute legend, both the driver and the car.
  • @joshuarosen6242
I'm less surprised by the amazing engineering than the fact that it's possible for a human being to drive something as well as this when everything happens faster than you can blink. It's an amazing feat.
  • @arelortal6580
Now , he is the only one who truly deserves the nurburgring layout sticker on the back of his car, even at the wheel of a fiesta
  • @tekpic04
Hitting 368kph (228.665mph) on the straight is mind blowing. Looking at the telemetry, it could've been a faster on certain sectors instead of shifting down due to grip. Well done to Timo and Posche.

Nurburgring is perfection. The faster the cars go around the turns the more perfect it looks. It's amazingly designed and in my opinion the absolute mecca, and it's not even close. The Porsche compliments the track perfectly also, it definitely takes every inch of the track to the limit. Watching this lap is like watching the Mona Lisa being painted
  • @C0lbyte
Shouldn't the car now be renamed 519 instead of 919?
  • The average speed of his lap is around 234,70 km/h (145,84 mph) Just insane
  • @katrinagwen
That’s the most insane driving I’ve seen. The full gas from 7:36 then the downshifts in the end from supersonic speeds, completely NUTZ!!!
  • @ilcomendante
4 years later and STILL feels like a video put on fast forward. Unbelievable achievement and mind boggling that this record too will be broken some day 😬😅🥂
