"I WANNA BE GOOD AT THIS QUICKER" every single artist out there felt that.
  • @mjjulian72
The ever-increasing amount of paint on Jazza and slightly-crazed look in his eyes as he learns the process cracks me up.
  • @TheHollycopter
"I WANT TO BE GOOD AT THIS QUICKER" is literally me every time I try a new craft lmao
  • @InsanityVirus
I would freaking donate money to see the world's biggest pendulum swing paint!
  • @kmaloneydesigns
The "I want to be good at this quicker" is the most relatable thing ever. Literally how I feel when I try any new styles of art 😂

10:02 that is the best interaction ever. the bravado, the laugh, the expression of indignation. stunning

Jazza: "I hate reading directions" Also Jazza: as delighted as a 6 year old each time he learns something from a guide
  • @marialiyubman
I see a point in the not-so-distant future when Jazza urgently needs a bucket to hold some paint or resin, and they will ALL have holes in them, and he will go:”why do all my buckets have holes in them?” (Dear Liza, dear Liza), and then there will be a flashback to this video.

I actually love it at 14:57. The purple was absolutely necessary. Personally I want the purple to be red, but that's me. There's perfect natural order and then there's tainted chaos in contrast to one another. It's excellent.

One of the issues he runs into repeatedly preventing him from getting the “clean” result he wanted is pushing, throwing, or spinning the bucket with force. The pendulum typically works best being brought out a certain distance… and then just let go of. Or twist the string, bring it out a certain distance and then let go of it. When he’s pushing or throwing he’s adding some weird torque which is eventually “corrected” as the pendulum continues to swing but it makes those first couple of passes of paint lay in a slightly different pattern (or makes it splatter before it settles). You definitely can use throwing it as a technique but you have to be very in tune with the weights/directions/forces involved - at least for a clean geometric result - which is hard to do when you’re brand new to something.
  • I love that you show the process of "failures" as you're learning. It doesn't have to be perfect to be art. You're having fun and you're learning.

Jazza: “we have to spin the string not the bucket” Jazza: continues to spin the bucket the rest of the time
  • @ItsSlusher
Jazza: "you know the trick to get over being precious about things?" globs paint onto everything Later gets a few drops of paint on the wall Jazza: "Ahh! my precious wall!"

if you want to try this on hard mode, have a look at "chaos pendulums" which is just a pendulum attached to another pendulum. To convert a paint pendulum into a paint chaos pendulum, you just need to add a weight in the middle of the string that's a bit heavier than the paint and tin. I messed with the idea a bit, but it's very hard (expensive) to get the flow just right, because the velocity of the paint tin is unpredictable and changes wildly as it goes. It's messy but would make for a very entertaining video. Also fun is to use 3 bottles tied together with a different colour in each, especially if you wind a lot of spin into the string.

The purple chaos over the black organized lines, is a masterpiece. Really, the contrast is very avant garde.
  • Jazza, I freaking love how you show the trial/error process when trying something new! Also the thing you said at the beginning about having a brand new sketchbook and not wanting to ruin it with an imperfect drawing or painting was awesome! Haha! Just gotta get stuck in!
  • @legos2011
Hey Jazza, you should try diamond painting, its extrememly tedious yet has an amazing end result and i feel it would chip away at your remaining mental state.
  • I love how I'm over here with a giant pack of spirograph tools going "Yeah I'm just gonna stick to this smaller version :'D"
