The whole story: From going off birth control, to really bad acne, to interstitial cystitis, to hormonal imbalance...

This is a video of all the things going on in my health that sent me looking for answers which eventually lead me to get diagnosed as hypothyroid.

The specialist I've been working with is: jennpike.com/ and, while I have definitely added in other things I've learned about healing hypothyroid, she was a HUGE help in helping me finally get answers and getting me walking in the right direction.

  • I'm currently also dealing with some newfound autoimmune issues. Sounds like I'm on the same path as you are with functional medicine. I'm so happy to see that you overcame all the setbacks and you are thriving with your health ❤️ I too believe our bodies can heal themselves and I'm optimistic for the future.

I think if a person needs meds, they take it without any guilt. One of the first processes of healing is to forgive or accept yourself in order to move on and get better. Healing is such a broad topic, with many meanings. For some, medication will be part of that picture. For other's it won't. No shade should be thrown at anyone.

And the pituitary sends more tsh because the thyroid is being attacked and isn’t producing enough hormones. It’s being attacked because that’s what hashimotos is. There is a protein in gluten called “gliadin” and it mimics your thyroid hormone. If your body detects too much thyroid hormone it then attacks the thyroid leading to hypothyroid hashimotos. Hope that helps
  • How have you been doing now 3 years in? Are you still practicing the same thing or changed it at all? ❤️

I have interstitial cystitis too! I got it 10 years ago when I was like 19, flared for almost a year, then finally got in under control with the basic IC diet (pretty much just nothing acidic) and then over the next few years only had a few short flares, then actually went into full remission for 6 whole years!!! now just this year it started flaring again in February :| ... I thought that part of my life was over... this time im trying to get it in remission with a plant based alkaline diet and I definitely notice a difference when I am strict with my diet versus when I cheat too many times. Do you still have flare ups?
  • Thank you for sharing your story! Could you do a what I eat in a day video since you have had to change up your diet? ❤

Do you recommend a certain diet or book to read for diet that has helped you? This is the first time I heard of someone else having “UTI” like symptoms and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had the same thing and it was detrimental to my life.. I just found out I have Hashimotos but I swear I’ve been suffering for years feeling like a crazy person every dr I go to would tell me I was fine.
  • I was finally diagnosed in 1995 after 2.5 years of symptoms and putting on a huge amount of weight in a few months. I've only just discovered this vid after watching your PCT hike. My question is how did your body handle all that cold water swims you did? The few times I tried cool water I ended up hyperthermic and that was in a local pool. My body just doesn't handle cold now.

Nutrition and lifestyle is key but apart from it birth control is not taken to seriously by doctors how hazardous its to a womens body many women have disbalanve their lives with birth control even having good eating and lifestyle habits birth control disturbs drastically the estrogen thyrod levels and leading to diseases , Government and pharmacy at times seems to do more harm than good.
