  • I love hearing of artists that started later in life. Let's one know it's doable and I'm not alone. šŸ˜‚

ā€œDrawing things we love, because weā€™ve already looked at them ā€œ and find the inspiration we need! Great statement Stephen! Iā€™m going to write on the inside cover of my sketchbook! Thank you sir! Loved this livestream recordingā€¦ hope to catch you live next time!ā¤

You hit on so many things I've been ruminating and relate to, including confidence (it being more how we see ourselves than we see our art), starting out a bit later in life, even feeling jealousy for an artist daughter and giving yourself permission to give it a go. Thank you so much for sharing your work and wisdom!
  • Iā€™m loving your channel, you are a wonderful teacher! I too came late to WC ! I explored other artistic disciplines and worked full time + and then after health issues retired early and started basic lessons and now Iā€™m hooked on painting and drawing! Thank you!
  • I wish Iā€™d made the live talk. I related to the person who was afraid to sketch in public. My advice would be to go somewhere where you donā€™t know anyone. A big city maybe. I set up at a park in a big city once and someone came up behind me and said it was beautiful and she wished she could do that. And Iā€™d thought it was very amateurish but had resigned myself to just go for it. I learned something that day. I wrote that womanā€™s words right there in my sketchbook and Iā€™m not afraid to go out anymore.

Thanks Stephen i am finding your videos very helpful. Kindest Jonathan
  • Very inspirational, thank you!! Have always painted Acrylic and now at 74 started watercolour on a smaller scale. I paint better than I scetchšŸ˜‚

If the today's regular video you mentioned is the one about downhill perspective, when I first glanced at it I thought you were just reposting the older one that I'd seen. I'll give it a look when I have time to sit and watch it. I like these talking videos because I can listen while I'm busy. The drawing ones are so helpful but sometimes I have to choose between 15 minutes of drawing or 15 minutes of YouTube šŸ˜…

I cannot wait to read your "book". If you do not write it... I will be sad. ;-)
  • I don't believe I got a notification about this live talk, so I must not be signed up with you in the correct way although I do have the 'bell' on for notifications.
  • Must have been really tired I fell asleep so I didnā€™t hear the notification not long ago woke up 7 am
  • Accurate observation does not discard the gesture. Accuracy depends on the stray line, and the smudge. Is this true for anyone else? šŸ˜‚
