Fast and Easy Way to Draw Complex Architecture

Published 2024-06-21
Daily drawing exercises let us work on particular drawing techniques, and specific subjects, without the overhead of finishing a large and complex drawing. This gothic spire atop Notre Dame in Paris is a great subject for applying the drawing technique of drawing the effect of detail, not to try and draw it accurately in detail. This technique has been the gateway to my drawing style development.

  • Hello Stephen , thanks for the demo , I have a question if you like can you tell us along the video what changes you make in your drawing if compared to the reference as I saw that at the starting of the video the base part all I can see in the reference is pure white , a medium dark , and dark(all of them can be seen very distinguish ) but when you drew all If any were mixed Where I saw pure dark , you put vertical marks there and slightly darken some areas only I think thus is what you call the effect of detail , and I find it really hard to warp around when you say to "feel" the detail and effect just somehow I can't understand this term "effect" at all Or I can say that I am quite restricted in the types of marks that I currently have in my toolbox (maybe only line and hatch) as I mostly draw figures and vehicles In short i am drawing these sessions regularly but am not quite satisfied with the marks I make , a way too much dark in hatch and fauls to have harmony in the drawings Thank you Stephen , please continue with these sessions
