This was our experience during the eye of Hurricane Ian at the height of the flooding. The wind blew from about 11:30am to past midnight. The flooding occurred between 2:30 and 6:30 and did not completely subside for two days.

We were incredibly lucky. Not everyone was as lucky. Please pray for the families less fortunate.

Our close neighbors had left so we knew we didn’t need to check on them. There were no reported injuries in our area.

  • Going to visit the ocean is awesome. Having the ocean come visit you, not so much. Thoughts and prayers for all those affected by this horrific storm.
  • To say you guys got lucky is an UNDERSTATEMENT!!! The houses across the street don't look to be so fortunate 😢 My friends house was destroyed by flood waters 😭 I'm happy the water didn't enter your house and you were all safe. Thank you for sharing 💓
  • I’m a Property Inspector in the UK & your coverage is really informative. I’m glad your property has come through it without any structural damage nor water inside. My friends in Daytona Beach had 3’ water through their house & everything ruined with foul water! Thankfully everyone I know & yourself have survived. We are hearing of tragic loss of life.
  • Mother Nature is a BEAST at times. Glad to see you guys were not harmed other than some damage to your place. God Bless everyone in Florida. Thanks for the video, Bobby.

Always wondered why these fixed generators werent elevated. Good example of how useless it is in the event of a flood. Hope you're doing alright

Wow. That water was so close to coming in. Had to be stressful to see this hurricane start to finish. Some crazy footage. Hope you and your family stay safe and can recover ASAP from this. So many people with homes totally destroyed.

Prayers for you and all who are affected ... Thank you for such great coverage.
  • I rode it out here in Cape Coral too, as I had hurricane Irma. The storm surge came right up to my home before it stopped rising. The power went out just after 4:00 pm, and was out for over a week, just came back on Friday morning at 9:20, and I got internet back about an hour ago. I lost nothing in this storm, and I know others who lost everything. I cooked and made coffee for my neighbors on a propane camp stove for a week, and a great neighbor got us generator power until LCEC got the power back on. God help all those who were not so lucky as me and my neighbors here.
  • @5:55 the ultimate sign for a "maybe I should move?" moment.. a moving dolly, washing up on the front door while Ian causes carnage all around. I have roughed a hurricane or two in FL so glad you and yours are safe, be well.

I understand your thinking of remaining behind in a evacuation zone. Just remember had something happened that you need to call 911 you would be "that guy". Glad you and your family are safe. 🙏
  • You guys are lucky that your property is at a higher elevation. Stay safe!
  • Wow, what amazing footage you captured. I’m glad you’re all safe!

Thank you for sharing your families experience in Hurricane Ian. Whether on the clean side or the dirty side of the Hurricane and the right side is always the dirty side. That being said being in the eye of the Hurricane is nothing to sneeze at. It was a serious Hurricane that your kids can tell their kids and you can tell your grandkids in later years! It's amazing the power of a Hurricane now the second round of Ian is the flooding and many of the folks got caught in again. Sadly people in mobile homes got hit extremely hard as well as many one story houses. I think raising the A/C and Generators on to more concrete block may be a good thing to consider. Theres the chance that you will never deal with a Hurricane again and we hope not!!! But living in Florida is part of life when we were living in the Keys Hurricane Wilma was a major hurricane in 2005, wind and flooding but that is expected in the Keys due to the location of the Keys. We evacuated due to flooding and damage to cars was the norm. Again thank you for sharing your families experience during Hurricane Ian that will go down in the history books as the most catastrophic Hurricane in Florida history, for now!!! God Bless you and your family and all that were in the path that lost all their stuff. And sadly those that lost their life in the Hurricane!!!
  • I gotta say if I ever have to be in a hurricane I would certainly want to be with your group. Y’all look so chill
  • My friend in North Fort Meyers rode out the hurricane in his trailor with his elderly parents, and they suffered no damage. Their neighbor have a tree fallen on his trailor, but not destroyed it yet. That trailor park survived intact while the one down the street was leveled to the ground. It is amazing what weather can do at times.
  • I am so sorry for those impacted by Ian and most especially those who lost loved ones! 💔
