In Sonic Underground, Sonic was technically a prince. In Sonic and the Black Knight, he wields a legendary sword. He has blue hair. Cmbine all 3 facts, and it turns out that Sonic is a Fire Emblem protagonist.

You know something is off when its meant to promote the Dreamcast.

I will say on the character note: Manic got like, a little character development. I thought they kind of touched on interesting things but again, the story was just really unpolished. But yeah it was implied he had abandonment issues or something like that, and despite trying to pretend to be aloof he empathizes with others way more than the other two. It was one of the few concepts I really liked from the show, but I wish they’d been explored a little more competently. (and the other two have basically nothing going for them rip)

The concept of this show is actually really neat for a Sonic series. Having Sonic come from royalty with two siblings he has to reunite with after separation as infants, whilst forming a love for music and becoming a powerful rock band has SO much potential!! But they ruined it ):

Fun fact: When the Archie Sonic comics where still going on they wanted to create a issue which would wrap-up the story of Sonic Underground.

Oh man, I loved this show when I was little. Looking back, I'm kinda upset to see all the reasons why it didn't age well... I can't help but hope for a reboot of it, obviously with some major improvements and things that make it, y'know, like a Sonic show.

I remember obsessing over this show as a kid, the nostalgia is still there but holy shit was it bad. The concept of Sonic having siblings is really interesting and could work but they fucked it up of course.
