Best campground in the Pigeon Forge area? I believe that may possibly be Honeysuckle Meadows RV Park. There are a ton of positives for this campground and only a couple rather small negatives.
The sites here are amazing. These are some of the largest sites I have ever seen, which is really impressive for a privately owned RV Park. You actually have a lot of "yard space" at most sites.
The sites are full hookup with 50 amp, 30 amp, and 15 amp power as well as water. The frost free hydrants are also fitted with heat tapes and insulation, although we usually just use our tanks in cold weather. The park also has cable, and they will give you a cable box and remote that you must put in your camper in order to actually view the cable and then return on checkout. There are also multiple different internet access points throughout the campground. The internet speeds on the Wi-Fi were the best speeds I have EVER gotten at a campground. Speed Test performed on Speedtest.net. Yes, it's not as fast as some home internet speeds, but come on for a campground this is pretty awesome. Verizon service was also between 3-5 bars.
This park is about 10 miles from the hustle and bustle of Pigeon Forge. I actually try to avoid the area because the crowds and traffic only annoy me. This park is far enough away that you don't feel like you are in the middle of it all. However, it is still rather close if that is your goal. We did take my daughter to the Lumberjack Feud Show that is just off the parkway in town. It was a nice show and only about 20 minutes away.
I believe the current price of the park varies between $40-$45 per night. First of all, for this area alone this is a great price (even though it's still a little more than I usually pay.) When you add in all the roomy space with the excellent internet services, pool, and other amenities then this is probably the best value I have seen for the area.
The first thing that I have to say about this park is that this is a case when first impressions will be wrong. When you first turn into the entrance where the office is you will probably do a double take. You will immediately think "what have I gotten myself into?" The reason for this is that they do have some long term camper storage on both sides of the main entry which makes it resemble a lot of other parks in the area that are overcrowded.
However, once you take a breath and drive further into the park, you will be pleasantly surprised and start breathing again. I do wish that there was an online reservation system. Reservations do have to be made by phone, but you can place an inquiry into the system on the website at least to get the ball rolling on availability. The only other thing that I will say about things that aren't perfect are that the fishing pond and pool are on the other side of the property and across the street. It's really not a long walk though.
There really aren't any bad sites, except I personally wouldn't stay on 49-51 because you have a view of the RV storage.
I actually recommend the lower portion of the eastern (main) loop. I say the lower portion because in the upper portion, there is more trees which is nice for shade, but they will block a lot of the views. The two best sites in my opinion are sites 30 and 42.
This is mainly because they are up higher on the hillside, but have a relatively unobstructed view of the mountains. Any sites behind these is where your view is going to start being limited. In the summer, you may want to go over to sites 52-54 though, as they are closer to the pool (if that's something that interests you. Those sites are across the hill from the RV storage and you won't have that as a view. You can still see the mountains from here, but not as well as the other lower loop on the other side.

This looks like an amazing campground. The last time we were camping in the area I actually stayed in townsend. Spent a lot of time in the mountain and didn't want to fight the traffic. LOL thanks for sharing. Lynn and Danny
  • Wow, this is a very nice campground and very spacious sites! We agree that a lot of people just pass it by because of the trailer storage up front that is seen from the road! Thanks for sharing! ~ Shion and Matthew

Everybody and their brother will be checking it out! 😉 We drove through there a few years ago and there didn’t seem to be a lot of level sites. But you’re right - it looks great.
