You are one of the most underrated youtuber... You deserve so much more attention and views... :)

Let's summarize: In 1997 Volkswagen presented the W12 and expressed their intention to sell 200 cars to boost their image. One year later they purchased Lambo and Bugatti which were much better image boosters than the W12, so it became obsolete. Commercial decisions are much simpler than complex engineering developments, and that is what this German beauty had faced. She had to give way to her hot italian and french sisters. At the en of the 90's / the beginning of the 2000's the Volkswagen group seemed invincible, but even then they knew they had their limits.

I have a book called Concept Cars by Richard Dredge and he talked about the VW W12 concept and it was something like never before Unfortunately due to its engineering and design it wasn’t to be

Thanks for all the great videos! The Volkswagen W12 is a favourite of mine and I'm so glad you made a video on it!
-
Great retrospective! So many memories by the time I was hyped by my magazines which talked about all of those concept cars

It’s important to note that the W configuration in Volkswagen’s new car engines was different from the W engines in airplanes and motorcycles. Old W engines involved 3 banks of cylinders, like a V engine with an extra row of cylinders on the same crankshaft. Volkswagen’s new engine was a whole new layout, essentially 2 VR engines mated to a shared crankshaft.

8:29 KILOMETERS - you got it right over there man, I knew you can!

I’ve had a model VW W12 since I was quite small and never really knew about it until my dad and i were talking about it after dinner as I had taken it off the shelf earlier that day. It is a very interesting story and a brave move from the designers to make a new engine and unique car shape.

They tested this car rigorously. Nardo and other his speed runs. Shame it didnt get produced
-
Such an underrated car, discovered it thanks to the GranTurismo series of games.

This is a troll profile and i rarely comment anything in a positive manner.... Fam, keep up the good work! I've been an avid viewer and subscriber since your first channel and for the life of me i could not understand why they fucked you over. Keep your chin up, I'm sure that you'll be on top of your game in no time! Believe in yourself and keep the good content coming! I'll be supporting you thru patreon soon, you are the only youtuber that takes me back to my childhood with your whole vibe and ideas. I cant count how many nights i watched your stuff before going to bed and it has become a ritual for me. You take me back to the time when i got my first VHS cassette that had the whole history of the Ferrari Testarossa research and development and such. Your intro is brilliant and it really gets me back to the good old carefree days when i was a child. Its really difficult to get the words right regarding how much your whole content resonates with me, but please don't stop putting in the effort because i will really miss it! Much love from Bulgaria! A. M.

If Audi produce that car today with a few updates it’ll sell like candy if they wanted to kill off the R8
