  • Poor Matilda, born just to be ignored by her family. Fortunately she ended up being on Ms. Honey's caring ❤️.
  • Who else feels happy listening to the love, care and tenderness in Danny Devitos voice while he narrates Matildas story. Like you can tell he actually cares about her.

This was essentially Danny DeVito’s movie. He produced it, directed it, starred in it, and narrated it. He’s a very talented guy.

I remember seeing this movie as a child and just being in awe at the world and I couldn't wait to experience the joys of life, only to get older and realise it's mostly responsibilities and trying to find inner peace.

This movie gives so much comfort to kids with families who don’t love or understand them. Well done to the cast and crew, especially Danny Devito. I think this movie will be his legacy.
  • I bet Matilda found her birth certificate and worked out how she was when she said she was 6 and a half. :)

Little Matilda looks adorable and so cute! When I was small, I remember watching this movie and thinking that Iwanted to be as smart as Matilda and do whatever it takes
  • So Matilda's strong, young mind continued to grow, nurtured by the voices of all those authors who had set their books out into the world; like ships onto the sea. These books gave Matilda a hopeful and comforting message: you are not alone.
  • I never realized that they left the older kid locked in the hot car, wtf.
  • The real mystery that I’ve been questioning till this day is how the hell did Matilda even survive with those monsters. Child neglected services are screaming for this girl. I know is just a movie but to think there are children like her in the world who probably have it worse than she does makes me sick. When the narrator: Danny De Vito/ Mr. Wormbook said by the time she was two, she learn what most people learned in the in their early thirties how to take care of themselves hits hard because I’m thirty and I’m still learning. So if there are children out there who knows more than grownups is very impressive🌷
  • Even though Ms. Honey later tells Matilda "You were born into a family that doesn't always appreciate you.", I always for some reason thought they were adopting her in the beginning. I stumbled upon this movie about 11 or so years ago on Netflix, one of my favorite movies of all time :)
  • This is the scene that made me join a library as a child because Matilda did, it really helped me develop my English. I was able to read wonderful books like Alice in Wonderland and The Lord of the Rings at a very young age. Every child should watch this film and hopefully, be inspired to read more, just like I did.

am i the only one who can recite this entire movie word for word?

I love the baby's expression at 0:56 seconds, haha. It's like, 'what the h-ll, Michael? is this supposed to amuse me?'
  • @asahel980
as and adult seeing this , If this is in real life there is a 1-5% chance Matilda would be in Unsolved mysteries/Forensic files or Dateline.

7:19 I always thought Matilda's dad said "You were 6 and had to be in school already." But it sounds like that because he was speaking so fast. He actually said "If you were 6 1/2, you'd be in school already." It even sounds right if you slow down the video to 0.25x
