Meanwhile, the Mid-Year CPU Update: AMD: Great and Zen 5 comes out soon! Intel: EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE

"If you care about Ray Tracing, the GeForce card is better value. If you don't care about Ray Tracing, the Radeon card offers better rasterization performance for the price" - this video, basically. Edit: oh yeah, and just forget about the Non-Super refresh counterparts.

The gaming industry is playing 4D chess, they're making PC games so unoptimized people will go back to consoles and GPU prices will lower.
  • @NikoQerry
"The best of a bad situation." Quite an understatement.
  • @Nianfur
For the price, there's still nothing for me to upgrade to from the RX 6800 XT.
  • @silenthero2795
I bought me some 2nd hand RX6800 MSI Gaming Trio for around $300 last year. Still going strong πŸ’ͺ

The problem is pricing and availability is different everywhere... RTX 40-series cards in sweden almost always cost more than in the US but also more than AMD GPUs which makes this video unaccurate for countries outside US.
  • @yulyman
I always wait 2 generations for either mid or high end.
  • @Dragon211
still using a RX 5700 XT playing older games. Perfectly happy waiting for a decent card that won't cost an arm and a leg.

Keep in mind, a 5090 will be more than 1600, he left that part out

I built my brother a gaming PC got his bday and got an XFX 7900GRE for 509.99 at MicroCenter

RX7900xt owner here. I bought it over a year ago with nice discount for ~250€ less than 4070ti, a direct competitor, was priced back then. The issue was that 12gb of vram was deal breaker for such massive spending on GPU, while it was way worse behaving on my 32:9 Superultrawide monitor for all non-RT games, even with DLSS. And here we are, year later, and i'm still super happy about that purchase at the time. 20gb of Vram is great for both RT and FSR. FSR3.1 rocks. Right now i probably would go with 4080super, as it's much more reasonable card than 4070/4070ti or even regular 4080 were back then. It sucks that Nvidia needed a year to fix their initial bad products
  • @Micaenes
I’m still concerned about the memory bus for $400US is 128-bit. I would expect at least 192-bit for this price point. Based on the current generation performance, I’m keeping my old as heck R9 390
  • @tomstech4390
Here in the UK its so broken. 4060ti or 7900GRE? gee that's hard lol 7900xt or pay +Β£100 (15%) for a budget 4070ti super 7900xtx or decent 4070ti super You pretty much only buy Nvidia if you never compare prices and just don't care, I'm surrounded by Nvidia cards but it seems they don't want my money anymore so going forward all the builds I do will be AMD.
  • @25MHzisbest
It's always the best of a bad situation and it will only get worse going forward.
