Caps: Buy Capfriendly in order to deprive other teams of the info and increase the chances of doing something boneheaded. Also the Caps: Take 7 years of PLD without a dime of retention.

It will work out for LA even if Kuemper continues his slide. It's easier to deal with his contract. He also played for the Kings before his Cup and is already familiar with the staff. He seemed like a good locker room guy and I really think PLD wasn't just having a bad a year but was not meshing with the rest of the team and had become isolated. It's rare for a GM to call his decision to acquire a player an outright mistake.

I am being an optimistic Devils fan, I'm pretty happy with the Markstrom trade. 30 % retained amd got 2 years not too long. We get a goalie who can help. Hopefully it all comes smoothly!

It’s a great trade for LA. Rob Blake should have never gotten in this situation in the first place, but the way he got out of it is honestly incredible. Needed a goalie anyways, and Kuemper’s contract is only a few more years, so they’re not stuck with him. He has recent cup experience and has familiarity with LA organization. They could also just trade him for picks or something if he doesn’t meet expectations. They have very high potential goalie prospects Portillo and Slukynsky on the come up in the minors. They also made a lot of cap room for now AND the future.

These trades make me think that the Avs are actually going to be able to get something for Nichushkin.

I actually like this trade for Washington. The pressure is off PLD because all Washington wants is for ovi to hit the goal record. The cap doesnt matter for them because they arent making playoffs, and arent contending. Ovi retires in 2 years, or 3 dependent on the record. After that the caps go full rebuild for atleast 5 years. That just happens to be how long his contract is for, so i think pld can play top 6, get 50-60 points a season, decent player who is overpaid but maybe he can figure out his motivation problem because he is still young. Plus the caps could conceivably trade him 50% retained if he heats up and some team wants him for a playoff run, throw in a bad contract coming back, it could work out well for Washington

Putting Ovi and PLD on the same line will be like putting a chihuahua and Kangal in a room together🤦‍♂️

3:20 PLD's contract didn't have a 15-team NTC. There wasn't any trade protection until July first due to age restrictions to have those in the CBA, then it was a full NMC for four seasons, then a 15-team NTC in 2028-29, and a 10-team NTC in the last two seasons.
