Lyrics:
My mama always said I would regret it if I ever got a tattoo.
She said I'd never get a job like I ever wanted one with that attitude.
My dad said I had to learn to drive a stick shift, but every van I ever had was an automatic.
My friends said that someday I would make it big, but I'm still living in the basement.

I'm just as broke as the day I was born.
But I still make it work just like everybody else does.
It's all just a cruel joke and everybody knows there's no way out.
Well who's laughing now?

The tv said that I would never get a girlfriend unless I had a six pack and smoked cigarettes.
Well I've got a couple extra pounds and hottest girl in town and she don't mind having a little more of me to go around.

I'm just as broke as the day I was born.
But I still make it work just like everybody else does.
It's all just a cruel joke and everybody knows there's no way out.
Well who's laughing now?

The preacher told me this was only just a pipe dream.
And I've been burning both ends seven days a week.
But baby I just paid the rent making music with my friends.
It ain't much but it could be the start of something big.

I'm just as broke as the day I was born.
But I still make it work just like everybody else does.
It's all just a cruel joke and everybody knows there's no way out.
Well who's laughing now?

“I’m just as broke as the day I was born.” Great lyrics, sound and video production are top notch.
  • I just turned 41. At 38 i got a career job at USPS. First 'good job' I'd ever had. Before that I'd just been writing, smoking pot, partying in the woods and in basements of friends parents houses, and working at movie theaters & gas stations. Had a cpl bands way back in the day as well. Feels like 3 lifetimes ago now. I dont really feel like i sold out bc i still do all of the other things. Except play in a band. I just never succeeded in getting anything published/optioned, or shown much interest. I havent written anything in a long while. I have been thinking a whole lot about it though. My mom died a month ago today and i guess I'll just be living in her house by myself - which is a strange feeling bc i didnt do anything to have a house. I've lived in apartments before of course but maybe i just feel so unaccomplished that it feels weird to have a house. I'm just rsmbling. I apologize. I guess my point for posting this was just to say this video was super rad and i relate to a lot of it. 🍻
  • Dude, I just teared up listening to this lol. I feel like it applied to my life, but I sold out. Was a giant fuck up in high school. Everyone thought I sold drugs and was high every day, but it was never true. I wanted our band to make it, but I got scared, got married and joined the military. It felt pretty nice walking through my high school with my recruiter in my Marine alphas. Then I got out of the Marines. Aimlessly worked at vape shops for years. Could feel my parents and in laws shame in what I was doing at 27. Then something switched in my gut and I moved my wife and I to Florida for college. Graduated and now work for a AAA studio as a software engineer working on games. I teared up hearing "Who's Laughing Now". One dream failed, but another succeeded and shut everyone up lol. Who's laughing now? Thanks for this.

This popped up on my feed randomly, and HELL YES. This is killer. Instant fan. \m/ EDIT: Shout out to all of you who were early to the party when it comes to knowing about this band. Because of your support of them on platforms like these, it helped lead to them randomly popping up on my feed today, which lead me here to this moment, discovering this kick ass music that may have passed me by. Keep up the good work. \m/
  • honestly whoever shot this music video needs to create a movie asap. beautiful song, beautiful people, beautiful shots.

This is probably the best anthem for musicians and creatives ever. Bless.

Almost brought to tears. Completely captured the heart of live music and music creation if that makes sense. Also the 4x12 in the wheel barrow got me 😂

I heard you guys playing this song on the local college radio station while I was teaching my son how to drive (no stick shift) on campus today. Feels like the world is starting to catch up with how awesome your music is. Keep it up. Good luck.

It's criminal that this song isn't playing in every single persons car right now
  • @keithg1313
The boom mic slowly deflating while your setting up got me. Loved it.
  • @Kyrantula
Metal head and metal musician here. Indie isn't my bread and butter, but this song is a banger. Keep up the good work.

  • Somehow every small band that ever randomly pops up in my recommendations is phenomenal, and you guys are absolutely not the exception. LOVED this song and video was amazing as well. Y'all are gonna do great <3

Still have fond memories of scrapping around the Minneapolis music scene playing those random coffee houses and bars, and getting to play a few of them with you guys... and ya always brought it every time, big or small show. And big or small our identity doesn't have to be bound by our music, and to quote Chariots of Fire, remember to feel his pleasure ;) I'm passing your music on to my Polish ESL students and cheering ya on across the pond!
