Far-left activist arrested over railway attacks ahead of Paris Olympics

A far-left activist has been arrested in connection with a series of sabotage attacks on France's high-speed rail network last Friday, according to the country's interior minister Gerald Darmanin

It is the first publicly announced arrest made since the attack, which took place just hours hours before the Olympic Games opening ceremony got underway.

Hundreds of thousands of people were left stranded at stations after the overnight attacks on the TGV network which authorities have called a coordinated hit on the rail network.
