A month ago I found ancient steps carved into solid rock. I climbed them. What I found at the top, and in the canyon as a whole, was extraordinary. I returned during the summer solstice event, to see if the towers might be ancient astronomical markers. What I discovered deepened the mystery.

What? They demonetized that cool video of you going up those steps. YouTube demonetization is getting ridiculous.

I am a 61 year old granny from the UK, I have always been interested in the petroglyphs and the Anasazi or Pueblo natives, your channel is teaching me a lot and as I will never walk where you do it’s a privilege to accompany you.
  • I swear, if youtube starts messing with THE Desery Drifter; we gonna have a big problem. Thank you for creating some of the most interesting and beautiful content around!
  • Andrew, you are producing some of the best content on youtube . I'm 74 and my days of trekking is in the past. Thank you for taking me along.
  • Every time we see you uploaded a video, we stop whatever we were watching and click on Desert Drifter!!!
  • I'm 81 and housebound with a husband on hospice. I'm not saying that for sympathy only to let you know how much your adventures mean to some of us. As a desert dweller I can still enjoy the beauty that you show us every trip and I thank you for it. By the way, I especially enjoyed the one you tube messed with. Sorry about that it was breathtaking.

While the summer solstice is an important solar marker, if you have time to go back during the autumnal equinox, you might find more interesting shadows in that canyon. Another possibility is trying to align dates of known comets passing overhead. We've created so much light pollution that we tend to forget that the ancients had a perfect view of the milky way.
  • Mining engineer here. The 2 side by side towers should erode evenly, I would think, but why is there a rock debris field at base of the "Sheep tower" and not anywhere else on that rock formation? I'm looking at the film at 16:05. Perhaps the Sheep tower" had some human intervention? Keep up the great work!
  • Aren't you so glad that You Tube keeps us safe from ourselves. Lol. Thanks again 👍
  • I’ve been watching you about three months and I absolutely love it. I’m 80 years old. I feel so calm and relax. You explain everything so nice. I like when you cook and your adventures are delightful. I love it too much. I will join, but since I don’t know anything aboutcomputers, I’ll have my daughter do it for me. I will continue watching you. I will have a very calming on people. I believe you’re so graceful soft-spoken everything you do is nice.😢❤
  • You tube screws alot of good and hard working people who are honestly showing real life stories. Keep up the great work.
  • I think your rock art is absolutely a depiction of your two towers. One fairly straight column and one looking like a bighorn. I definitely enjoy your channel. Thanks for taking us along.
  • The verticals lines on the rock remind me of some I saw in a small cave-alcove many years ago when I used to go out exploring. The lines in the cave I saw were like a calendar. The sun would hit the vertical line for a particular day. As the sun moved a little each day, the sun would touch a different line. There was a circle above one line which ended up being for the summer solstice. So, if the vertical lines on the wall are not from erosion, they may be a type of calendar marking the day. You would have to see where the sunshine touches each sunrise to see if that is the case. Thank you for taking us along! 👍👍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼😀💕🍀🌸
  • YT just decides to randomly turn off comments on some of my videos for no apparent reason. So yeah, you never know. Exploring these places is fun though.
