Shrek 1: Finding love Shrek 2: Maintaining love Shrek 3: bruh Shrek 4: Appreciating love
  • "Shes a princess and you're an ogre, that's something no amount of potion is ever going to change" -a lady who made a frog a king
  • I Just had a massive realization that the muffin man from shrek 2 is probably one of the most powerful/threatening forces in the far far away/the shrek universe. like, the man was able to create mongo, a colossul gingerbread man that a whole castle guard had trouble fighting, and then you realize he made him in the span of a few minutes (the ball already started before shrek and crew got to him). so, he could potentially create a whole army of them and that is hilarious, imagine the rumbling from Attack on Titan but with gingerbread men.

The fact that Puss in Boots got his own movie is proof that Shrek 2 left an undeniable impact on the franchise since he wasn’t introduced in the first Shrek movie but the sequel.

I love the fact that at the end of Shrek 1, Shrek accepts that he is an ogre. He doesn’t hate to be one anymore. But in Shrek 2’s finale he actually chooses to be one. He finally likes and wants to be himself.

The Holding Out for a Hero scene is so unequivocally, absolutely, unironically perfect
  • @bailysawyer804
Growing up as a kid I thought “holding out for a hero” was made specifically for shrek 2 because it was the first time I ever heard it and it was just that perfect of a fit

A small character detail that I also love is that Fiona isn't just some oblivious, innocent damsel in this whole situation with Prince Charming. Like sure, she kind of goes along because the whole experience is new and confusing and she isn't exactly sure who to trust -- but she knows herself and her relationship with Shrek so well that she trusts her gut, while also knowing to wait for the right time to act on her intuition.
  • About the King being the Frog Prince, When he enters The Poison Apple, a Female Frog asks The King if she knows him. The King gets nervous and says that she must be thinking of someone else. This implies that before he became king, he left her as a frog to be with The Queen. Damn.

It's so validating when you realize that the classic films you grew up with turn out to be well-crafted and thought-out masterpieces that stand the test of time.
  • I just rewatched Shrek 2 and was surprised by how well-paced it was. No one’s dwelling on a misunderstanding or is spending too much time sad. Instead, Shrek and his friends act intelligently and move the plot along when they're supposed to. I could believe the movie was almost over when the Fairy Godmother gave King Harold the love potion.

My brother is the only person I know who isn't actually a fan of "I need a hero", because when he was like 4, he was absolutely devastated when the giant gingerbread died, and suffers from ptsd whenever he hears the song

Schaffrillas: "Shrek 2 is probably the perfect sequel in cinematography." Puss In Boots: The Last Wish: "Allow me to introduce myself." *six months later* Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse: WAZZUP DANGUH
