There is one enormous feature of M8 that might not seem big or obvious but it runs out of SD card. All samples are streamed - there is no "RAM" for samples. Thanks to that not only you can have stupidly long samples but more importantly they load instantly. Also projects are loaded instantly and even you can preview another project without loading it first. AMAZING. Also it's worth mentioning that this thing is resampler's dream. Not only you can resample anything, export to stems etc, but there is shortcut to resample the patterns at cursor position. Also, like in ableton you can save just project file or export all connected sampes as "bundle" to new location. Those are just some small quality of life things that MOST groveboxes's manufactures don't even think about. It is dream box made by tracker artist that actually uses it and it shows.

I got an 01 version about three years ago and after a couple months sold off my digitone, digitakt, and analog four. I’m not sure how much more of an endorsement I can give it other than it’s the single most useful piece of music hardware I have ever used.
  • Desert Island Instrument is a great way to describe it. I love using the M8 and I would have to agree. If I was stuck on an island with the M8 I would be waving away the rescue boats until I finished my tracks

What I think makes the M8 special is that the software and user interface both are extremely optimised. It has such a strong community, every little thing is being ironed out. The result is a super smooth experience, no lasting bugs and a razor sharp workflow. This device is unique cause it can truly get you into flow.

It would be nice if they would fix the price for Europeans, model 2 can easily end up being 900+ euros with vat and import taxes.

I loved its old industrial asthetic with the lo-rez pixelated screen, the bolts and the angular design - but i can see as a device the MK2 is an improvement.

M8 and Deluge. My two favourite music making hardware devices - interestingly, both created by independent individuals who just decided to go ahead and build dream devices. Dirtywave & Synthstrom Audible both put mega companies like Korg and Roland to shame!

Doesn't sound like it is for me. BUT, your enthusiasm cannot be denied. I enjoyed the video.

Can’t wait to get mine! This will be my first foray into trackers so I’m really excited.
  • @elarielo
Had a model 1 and had to sell it. A few months later I was already missing it so much, I hsd to order a model 2 when they became available for preorder. Can't wait for it to arrive (possibly in 2085)

The M8 has been a lifesaver for me, being home sick unable to work for over a year now, i keep it by my bed and pick away at songs when i can. At a time when i cant do much it gives me my music back, gives me something for me. I use mine with my zoom h1n to sample my drum kit, guitars And i mostly use it as a sampler than a synth, i never used a tracker back in the day (all cassette 4 track) but i love the interface and found it very easy to get my head around, i love my M8, and i have used it everyday since ive got , i never want to be with out it.
  • @TrickmanTerry
I never had or messed with the M8 Model 1 before. But I got an order in months ago for the Model 2 and it finally arrived days ago. I'm not really used to trackers so it's a little of an uphill battle, but I'm starting to understand it. What really stands out for me is the build quality. OMG it's the most solid and satisfying piece of music gear I own. It's truly weighted perfectly and feels amazing!
  • @leadenmere
I travel constantly and the OP-1 Field is my go to device. But, I ordered an M8 and can’t wait to pick it up when I’m back in the States this summer.

My fav portables are the Woovebox and the Tracker Mini. To be honest after months after the Woovebox I always feel underwhelmed using other devices hehe
  • @ljs8888
    Mine’s arriving today🎉
  • @tk1ngatk1nga
Gave up on getting one as every time I went to the site to order when I received the emails saying open for orders it would have the order/pre-order button greyed out, numerous times, just tried now and still the the same, went for something else.
  • @bearfishpie4916
Great video! I’ve been learning this system via M8 Headless and having a fantastic time, (when not mucking about on the Woovebox)
  • @HenleyBailey
Love my M8, had the Model:01 and now the Model:02 and can't rate them highly enough. It's the only thing I need to make music with and it fits in my pocket, the output is super high-quality. My Deluge is awesome, so is my OP:1 but I've not used them at all since getting the M8. I think people are put off by how weird the interface looks but after an hour with one you realise it's actually really simple and super-fast to navigate around which is half the reason they're so fun, because your brain is locked in to making music and not how to apply an effect or which menu something is in etc.
  • @F_letc.h
Great video! Model 2 looks classy.
  • @alexiwiedemann
Hi. Cool vid as usual 🎉 How to compare it with the polyend tracker plus? And with the tracker mini?
